🚌 School’s Back on Tuesday! — Please Drive with Care!

With students back in the classroom and school buses back on our roads, it’s a good time for a few important safety reminders:

🔴 STOP for flashing red school bus lights. On roads without a median, traffic in both directions must stop.

🚗 If you’re behind a stopped school bus, stay at least 20 metres back and don’t proceed until the red lights stop flashing and the bus begins moving.

🐢 Slow down in school zones and watch carefully for children walking, cycling or crossing the road.

🛑 Obey crossing guards and be extra cautious around schools, bus stops and busy drop-off areas.

📵 Stay alert and avoid distractions behind the wheel.

A few extra seconds of patience can make all the difference. Let’s work together to keep our students safe as they head back to school! 🚌🎒

🔋 Stay Charged. Stay Safe.

Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day — from phones and laptops to power tools, e-bikes, toys and more. But when batteries are damaged, improperly charged or disposed of incorrectly, they can become a serious fire hazard.

The Charged for LiFE* campaign is helping Ontarians learn how to safely use, charge and dispose of lithium-ion batteries.

Remember these four key safety messages:

🔋 Batteries– Purchase certified batteries and regularly check their condition.
🔌 Charging – Use the correct charger and never overcharge your devices.
🛠️ Tampering – Never modify, tamper with or build your own lithium-ion batteries.
♻️ Disposal – Never put lithium-ion batteries in the garbage. Dispose of them safely as household hazardous waste.

A few simple precautions can help prevent battery fires and keep your home and family safe.
