Sheldon Smithens, star of Canadian Pickers, will be bringing his talents to The Annual Stockmen’s Dinner, hosting live auctions for the Friends of the Bar U Historic Ranch Association fundraising event- taking place on January 31, 2026 at the Highwood Center in High River.

Smithens is a third-generation antiques dealer, auctioneer and appraiser with extension knowledge of antiques and collectibles. The energy of a live auction is like no other. - come experience the live auction of a painting by artist,Dimitri Sirenko all while supporting the Friends of the Bar U biggest fundraising event of the year.

The Friends of the Bar U is honoured to present a live painting event by artist, Dimitri Sirenko at the Annual Stockmen's Recognition Dinner and Silent Auction at the Highwood Center, High River.

Dimitri Sirenko is a Professional fine artist specializing in acrylic and oil paintings, known for his vibrant and bold expressive use of color and capturing movement on canvas. Dimitri explores a variety of subjects in his paintings ranging from seascapes and wildlife to landscapes, cityscapes and surreal art.

A 3 hour live painting event
When: Jan. 31/2026
Stockmen's Recognition Dinner and Silent Auction 2026
Where: Highwood Center, High River
Time: 6-9pm

Live painting is a form of visual performance art in which artists complete a visual art piece in a public performance. The artwork which is created live will be auctioned off the night of the event.

Come out and meet Dimitri Sirenko and see an artist live paint while supporting the Friends of the Bar U greatest fundraising event of the year!

Did you know the Bar you closes on September 30 for the season? But save the date we have our annual one day Pekisko Creek Christmas market on December 6 from 10 AM till 4 PM. We throw open the doors of the visitor centre and invite the community to come browse and do some shopping for the special cowboy or cow folk in your life.

So how do you get in on this fabulous event as a vendor? Email [email protected] and give your information your business name your contact information. Some pictures of your items would be great and if you are a friends of the BarU member then it's just $30 otherwise it's $40 for a table again [email protected] and we will have this booked by the end of October.
