Want to be part of the action this July 1? The Township of South Stormont Recreation and Facilities team is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make Canada Day at Arnold Bethune Park in Long Sault a success!

Help with:
🎈 Bouncy castle supervision
🎪 Carnival booths
🎉 Games and activities

This is a great way for high school students to complete volunteer hours while having fun and giving back to the community.

🚧 The 2026 Road Paving Program is making steady progress across South Stormont.🚧

Recently completed work in Rosedale Terrace includes Melba Street, Mack Street, Sunnyview Avenue and Cheryl Street.

Work is currently underway on Manning Road, with additional projects coming soon to:
• Wheeler Road in St. Andrews West
• Neville Road and North Valley Road in North Valley
• Hunters Road in Newington

The next Leaf and Yard Waste collection of 2026 takes place Monday, June 1.

Before you head out to enjoy your clean yard, keep these quick reminders in mind:
⏰ Put items out by 7:00 a.m. Collection starts early.
🛍 Use compostable bags only. Plastic bags will not be collected.
🪵 Branches are welcome but must be tied in bundles no larger than 1 m x 1 m x 30 cm.

🔥 BBQ SAFETY REMINDER FROM SOUTH STORMONT FIRE AND RESCUE 🧑‍🚒

With the warmer weather here, BBQ season is in full swing! Before firing up the grill, take a few minutes to make sure you’re BBQing safely.

✅ Keep your BBQ at least 1 metre (3 feet) away from your home, deck railings, fences, and any combustible materials.
✅ Inspect propane hoses and connections for cracks, leaks, or damage before use. A simple soap-and-water test can help detect leaks.
✅ Never leave a lit BBQ unattended.
✅ Clean grease trays and burners regularly to help prevent flare-ups and grease fires.
✅ Open the BBQ lid before lighting to prevent gas build-up.
✅ Keep children and pets a safe distance away from the cooking area.
✅ If you smell gas, shut off the propane tank immediately and have the BBQ inspected before using it again.
🚫 Never use propane BBQs inside garages, tents, sheds, or enclosed spaces.

A few simple precautions can help keep your family, friends, and property safe this BBQ season.

The Joint Compliance Audit Committee addresses applications requesting an audit of a candidate or registered third-party advertiser’s election campaign finances for the 2026 municipal election.
