New Community Safety Zones are now in effect on several Middlesex County roads 🚸

These zones are located near schools, parks, and community spaces where pedestrian activity is higher. Community Safety Zones in Middlesex County have a posted speed limit of 50 km/h and are in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year-round.

📍 Community Safety Zone locations:

- Catherine Street (County Road 49) near Northdale Central Public School and St. David Catholic School
- Kerwood Road (County Road 6) near Kerwood Ball Park
- Ilderton Road (County Road 16) near Valleyview Public School
- Ilderton Road (County Road 16) near Poplar Hill Park
- Poplar Hill Road (County Road 16) near Poplar Hill Park
- Medway Road (County Road 28) near Medway High School
- Gideon Road (County Road 3) near the Delaware Community Centre and Park

🚌Middlesex County Connect buses will not operate on Monday, September 7, 2026 for Labour Day.

Middlesex County's Administration Offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026, for Labour Day. Services will resume on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Effect for Middlesex County ⚠️

Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch parts of southern Ontario, including Middlesex County. Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms this afternoon and evening that may be capable of producing high winds, torrential rainfall, large hail, and a risk of a tornado.

Be prepared for severe weather. If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If you are outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. For more information on how to be prepared, visit: https://www.ontario.ca/page/be-prepared-emergency

Heat Warning - Beginning September 1, 2026 ☀️🌡️

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for the region starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026 and possibly lasting into Thursday, September 3, 2026.

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has some tips to stay safe during extreme heat:
💧 Drink water often (skip alcohol & caffeine)
🚗 Never leave kids or pets in parked cars
🌳 Limit time outdoors; seek shade or go out early/late
👒 Wear light clothing & a wide-brimmed hat
🏠 Keep blinds closed, avoid extra heat indoors
🚿 Cool off with showers, baths, or damp towels
🏃‍♀️ Avoid strenuous activity

Looking for a fun activity for your preschooler? Join Middlesex EarlyON at the Lucan Library for Summer Sensory Play!

This interactive program invites children ages 2–6 to explore summer through all five senses with creative stations, imaginative play, music, stories, and hands-on activities.

Do you want an inside look at local government? Are you looking for hands-on leadership experience? We’re giving high school students the chance to be Warden for a Day on October 13, 2026!

Participants will:
➡ Get a behind-the-scenes look at local government
➡ Witness a real Council meeting
➡ Connect with the Warden
➡ Meet County staff and tour the County Building
