The AfD (Alternative for Germany) is a far right political group. They have used N**i slogans and have used the popular Trump catch phrase of “Make Saxony-Anhalt Great Again”.

They want to
- ban pride flags
- improve relationships with Russia
- separate classes for immigrant students

Right wing populism is alive and well. Londoners can fight back against extremism by ensuring that they aren’t casting their vote for racists, transphobes, and bigots generally. I’m not through all of the candidates yet but so far, two candidates have clearly shown their extremism.

Tammy Abi-Khalil — candidate for Ward 9 running on a campaign of “transparency” has blocked me. The following was the exact question I asked:

“Do you believe that trans people have a ‘mental illness’?”

Two weeks earlier, she had commented this in reply to my asking her a question.

This is good investment.

Victoria Park is set to become even more welcoming with upgraded lighting and accessible viewing features, enhancing community events and everyday park use throughout the year. 

Improvements include new multi-colored LED lighting surrounding the concrete pad and the interior of the bandshell, along with a portable raised seating area that will feature railings and a wheelchair-accessible ramp.

The improvements are made possible through a $165,000 donation from Canada Life, recognizing the company's deep roots in London as it celebrates 100 years at its downtown location. Coinciding with the City's Bicentennial, the investment will enhance one of London's most cherished public spaces while improving accessibility and the visitor experience.

The upgraded lighting will help create a more vibrant atmosphere for festivals, community gatherings and public skating, while the new accessible viewing area will allow more Londoners to comfortably experience performances and events.

The improvements support Victoria Park's role as one of London's premier gathering spaces, creating a more accessible and welcoming destination for residents and visitors for years to come.
