Public Notice – Temporary Closure of Rood's Head Park
The Town of Lockeport wishes to advise residents and visitors that Council has approved the temporary closure of Rood's Head Park, effective immediately.
Recent site reviews have identified several public safety concerns throughout the park, including significant overgrowth, accumulated deadfall, hanging trees, and elevated wildfire risk. In consideration of public safety, insurance, and liability concerns, Council has determined that the park will remain closed until these issues can be properly assessed and addressed.
During the closure:
• Public access to Rood's Head Park is prohibited.
• Camping, overnight vehicle parking, and fires are strictly prohibited.
• Residents and visitors are asked to respect all posted signage and closure notices.
The Town recognizes the importance of Rood's Head Park to our community and is actively working with project partners to explore cleanup, hazard reduction, funding opportunities, and long-term stewardship solutions. Planning and cleanup efforts are currently underway, and further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
Community members interested in supporting future cleanup and stewardship efforts are encouraged to contact: [email protected]
