SAVE THE DATE!

Running for Shelter is back!

Join us on Sunday, September 27 at Bud Miller All Seasons Park for the 3rd Annual Running for Shelter in support of the Lloydminster Men's Shelter.

Whether you're a seasoned runner, a casual walker, or just looking for a great way to support your community, this event is for you.

This year we're aiming to make it bigger than ever with a 5KM run, family activities, a kids zone, vendors, food, music, prizes, and plenty of opportunities to connect with our community.

Every step taken helps support transitional housing and gives individuals the opportunity to move beyond crisis and toward stability.

Mark your calendars, gather your friends, family, or coworkers, and get ready to run, walk, cheer, and support a great cause.

More details, registration information, and sponsorship opportunities coming soon.

This week’s quote comes from Terence Lester who is an activist, author, and advocate who has dedicated his work to raising awareness about homelessness, poverty, and the importance of compassion.

His message is a powerful reminder that judgment never changes someone’s situation. Empathy, understanding, and support do. Every person experiencing homelessness has a story, a struggle, and a reason they deserve kindness.

At the end of the day, being hateful toward people going through hard times doesn’t solve homelessness or poverty. It’s the kindness from your heart that doesšŸ’™

As the days get warmer, many are stepping into new beginnings, but for some men in our community, the challenges don’t simply fade with the winter.

That’s where we come in. With the right support and resources, real change becomes possible. Lives can shift from surviving… to rebuilding.

This week’s quote comes from Jon Bon Jovi, a member of one of the world’s most successful rock bands, Bon Jovi. The quote expresses the idea that success and capability aren’t determined by what someone owns or what their situation looks like on the outside. Appearances shouldn’t define a person’s strengths or potential. We chose to share this quote to highlight how no one should judge another person’s ability or future based solely on appearance.

Jon Bon Jovi has not only helped create some of the world’s most recognizable songs, but he has also dedicated time to supporting those in need. In 2006, Jon Bon Jovi and his wife established JBJ Soul Kitchen, a community restaurant where individuals and families can enjoy a warm, nutritious meal in a welcoming environment.

JBJ Soul Kitchen operates on a volunteer and donation-based pay system. There are no prices on the menu. Instead, guests who are able are encouraged to ā€œPay It Forwardā€ by covering the cost of meals for those who cannot afford to pay. Guests who are unable to donate are invited to volunteer their time and become part of the JBJ community while learning about resources and opportunities available at the kitchen.

Jon Bon Jovi is an inspiration not only for his music but also for his dedication to helping those in need. If you weren’t a fan before, you might be now!

A big thank you to Relay Distributing for donating the hot chocolate for our rest stop during Coldest Night of the Year.

Our walkers absolutely loved it.

There is something simple but meaningful about a warm cup on a cold night. It gave participants a chance to pause, warm up, and connect before continuing the walk.

We are grateful for local businesses like Relay Distributing who step up and support community initiatives like this.

Thank you for helping make the night special.

What a night!

Coldest Night of the Year brought our community together once again, and we are so grateful to everyone who walked, volunteered, donated, and showed up.

Because of you, we are currently at 77% of our fundraising goal, with donations still coming in. Every dollar raised supports shelter, housing stability, and long-term solutions for people in Lloydminster who are facing homelessness and hardship.

The conversations, the encouragement along the route, the light meal afterward, the volunteers braving the cold, it all mattered.

If you were not able to attend but would still like to support the cause, donations are still open:

Thank you for showing what community looks like.
