Tick season is here, and taking a few simple precautions can help reduce your risk of tick bites while enjoying parks, trails, and natural areas.

To help prevent ticks:
→ Stay out of tall grass when possible
→ Wear long pants tucked into your socks and clothing that covers exposed skin
→ Use a tick-specific insect repellent as directed
→ Check yourself, your children, and pets for ticks after spending time outdoors

If you find a tick, remove it as soon as possible using fine-tipped tweezers. Grasp the tick close to the skin and pull upward with steady, even pressure. Once removed, clean the bite area thoroughly with soap and water or rubbing alcohol.
