Women in Business SAVE THE DATE!! Sept 18th. Lisa is just one of the inspirational speakers in the lineup.

What happens when you stop asking “Can I actually do this?” and start asking “How big could this become?”

Meet Lisa Learning, Founder & CEO of NRP Manufacturing and one of our main speakers at In Her Own Words.

Lisa has spent more than 25 years building businesses and has grown the Canadian-made PureGard brand into retailers across the country, all while continuing to manufacture right here in Blockhouse, Nova Scotia.

She's been named one of Atlantic Canada's Top 25 Most Powerful Women, twice named to Atlantic Business Magazine's Top 50 CEO list, and received the Export Achievement Award at the 2025 Lunenburg Queens Business Excellence Awards.

On September 18, Lisa is joining us to talk about Thinking Bigger.
Not just growing a business, but challenging ourselves to see what's possible beyond where we are today.

In Her Own Words
📅 Friday, September 18
⏰ 9:30 AM–2 PM
📍 Best Western Plus, Bridgewater

Come hear Lisa's story, and the stories of women from across the South Shore who are building, leading, learning and figuring it out along the way.

Meet the Meet Me on Main organizers!

Meet the Meet Me on Main organizers!

A few people have been asking who is behind Meet Me on Main, so we thought we’d introduce the committee helping bring it all together.

Our current committee includes:

Velta Vikmanis — The Astor
Stephanie Miller Vincent — The Channel
Tess Adams — Shore Thing
Jack Fancy — Councillor
Patrick Hirtle — Deputy CAO, Region of Queens Municipality
Mike Smith — Native Council
Lynette de Montreuil — Region of Queens Municipality
Heather Cook — Region of Queens Municipality
Courtney Wentzell — Councillor

Meet Me on Main has come together through a mix of local businesses, community organizations and municipal representatives, all working toward the same goal — creating a lively, welcoming evening on Main Street and giving people another reason to come downtown, explore, shop, eat, connect and enjoy our community.

There has been a tremendous amount of work happening behind the scenes, and we’re very grateful to everyone who has contributed ideas, time, support and energy to help make this first event happen.

As Meet Me on Main grows, we hope there will be even more opportunities for businesses and community members to become involved in future events.

For now, we’re counting down to Friday, September 18 and can’t wait to see Main Street come alive!

We're excited to attend the Meet Me on Main- Street Party in Liverpool next Friday!! (Sept 18th). Come downtown, mix and mingle, and shop til you drop (until 9pm).

Stores are offering specials and activities, the streets will be closed, there are artists and musicians, and the Astor is offering a free movie at the end 🎥

See you there!

✨ LIVERPOOL… ARE YOU READY? ✨

On Friday, September 18, Main Street is going to look a little different. From 6:00–9:00 PM, we’re filling downtown Liverpool with shopping, food, music, laughter, surprises and a whole lot of community spirit for Meet Me on Main! ❤️

🌟 Stroll Main Street and discover our local shops and businesses
💵 Grab Main Street Money and turn $5 into $10 to spend at participating businesses
🎃 See Main Street businesses get creative for our façade decorating contest
🧚 Search for a little enchantment during the Golden Fairy Hunt
🧙‍♀️ Watch for the Funky Witches of the Mist
🎬 And finish the evening with a FREE family showing of E.T. at the Astor Theatre!

And that’s not all. There will be little surprises tucked into the evening that we’re still keeping under our hats. 😉

This is about more than one night out. It’s about rediscovering our downtown, walking through doors you may not have opened before, supporting the people who do business here, and seeing just how much fun we can create when Main Street comes together.

Bring your family. Bring your friends. Make a night of it.

✨ Come experience the Magic of Main Street! ✨

Has anyone else noticed the signs in Sign Alley being....difficult to see? 🌲🪧

- Some signs you can't see at all because of trees
- Some signs are faded
- Some signs have fallen over completely
- Some signs are super tiny and you can't see them (need removing)

We love trees and greenery... except in front of our signs! How are visitors supposed to know which businesses are in the area if they can't see them.

It's time to get it cleaned up. 🌲🪧

We've gotten a quote from a company that can clean up Sign Alley but it's a lot.

Would you like to pay a company to prune the trees in front of your sign? It is $1000 per sign. Or would you prefer to clean up your own sign?

Please let us know in the comments or send a DM for privacy.

Having a highway sign is not a "set it and forget it" situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter 🌲🪧

The Quarterdeck - new signs on the way!
McDonald's Canada
Five Girls Baking
Privateer Days, Liverpool, Nova Scotia
UNESCO (like who even looks after this one???) Who put it up??
EXIT Realty Inter Lake
Lane's Privateer Inn
G & C Metal Roofing
Seaside Seafoods
Milton Blacksmith
Fishermans Cove

* There are other signs in Sign Alley but not all need attention

Everyone else... (and a couple I couldn't identify due to having fallen over or being too small)... FIX IT PLEASE or let's discuss a way we can collaborate on fixing them together (like get other quotes or whatnot) 🙌🏻 Thank you!

The 2026 Wishbook is an opportunity for local businesses, artists, and community groups to showcase seasonal offerings, products, services, as well as festive events. The Wishbook has become a beloved resource for helping residents and visitors find the perfect gifts available locally, and a community favourite for knowing what’s happening throughout Queens for the holiday season. It also reaps great rewards for the businesses represented.

If you wish to be featured at no cost in the 2026 Wishbook, please complete this google form NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 30 and we will add you to the list of 2026 contributors: https://forms.gle/xCW84KeGnwQJq6em7
