Gathering our Stories

Gathering our Stories Gathering our Stories is City of Kawartha Lakes initiative that aims to highlight local culture and heritage by bringing it to life on digital maps.

The City of Kawartha Lakes is looking for stories about the history, culture and special places in our communities to include in a collection of digital stories in the City’s soon-to-be-released Cultural Maps. Please join us for these participatory workshops. Debra Soule, the City’s, Arts, Culture and Heritage Development Officer will lead the sessions to identify your community’s most treasured c

ultural assets and collect your stories. Come and tell us about your community, its origins and unique culture – then and now. Bring in a photo or object that represents our cultural heritage and tell us why it is important. What were the unique traditions, events and celebrations in your family’s local history? What are your community’s most important assets? What are the things you treasure most today? What events do you and your family look forward to every year?
