June marks the beginning of Pride Season in Canada, a time when communities come together to recognize the history, contributions, and resilience of 2SLGBTQI+ individuals.

Here in Kawartha Lakes, a number of local events will take place in the coming months to support and celebrate the 2SLGBTQI+ community, including flag-raising ceremonies, community gatherings, and Pride-focused activities.

Our Service is committed to fostering a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued. We recognize Pride Season as an opportunity to continue strengthening relationships and supporting inclusivity across Kawartha Lakes.

We’ve recently seen an increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles in rural areas surrounding Lindsay.

Living in the country doesn’t make you immune to crime. Opportunistic thieves are targeting areas where vehicles are left unlocked and valuables are easy to access.

Please take a moment to protect yourself:

• Always lock your vehicle, especially overnight
• Remove valuables, cash, and electronics from your car
• Park in well-lit areas when possible
• Report any suspicious activity
It only takes a few seconds to lock your doors—but it can prevent a costly and stressful situation.

Let’s work together to keep our community safe.

🚔 Celebrating Our Future in Policing – Police Week 🚔

During Police Week, we’re proud to recognize the incredible youth who took part in the Police Bootcamp in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club Warehouse.

This program gave participants a unique opportunity to explore policing firsthand, learning about the many rewarding paths within law enforcement and connecting with members of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police.
From introduction to policing, to hearing from specialty units like the Emergency Response Unit and K9, to taking part in fitness and real-life scenarios—these youth showed dedication, curiosity, and teamwork every step of the way.

👏 Congratulations to all of this year’s participants on their achievement! Your commitment and enthusiasm made this experience a success.
