Lemberg and District Volunteer Fire Brigade

Lemberg and District Volunteer Fire Brigade The offical page of Lemberg's Volunteer Fire Department. Lemberg is located in Saskatchewan and is roughly 100km east of Regina on the 22 highway

The fire department is strictly volunteer and members do not receive any pay or remuneration to attend a fire call and training. All money received goes directly to the department for upgrades to equipment and training costs. Practice and meetings are on-going monthly in order to stay prepared for emergency situations. We continue to be active and prepared should an emergency fire situation arise in the community and surrounding rural areas.

At the beginning of the year, LFD was granted a set of vehicle extraction equipment through the Alberta Fire Aid Society, and this weekend we were able to get our firemen trained/certified on them!

We would like to thank Baillie Boys Towing 306-782-2100, DigDug Excavation and Construction LTD, and Pattison Liquid Systems on supplying us with vehicles & forklift to practice on/move around! Without their help this training weekend wouldn’t have been possible!

Additional thanks go to Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighter's Association & Devon Sawka on bringing the course in-house, which allows many more firemen to fit courses into their busy schedule. Devon was an excellent trainer and we couldn’t thank him enough for his support!

Last we would like to thank Balcarres & Rural Fire Department for loaning us some extraction equipment to practice with and let us get some hands on experience on what we are looking for when buying our own equipment!

We hosted 15 firefighters (12 Lemberg & 3 Abernethy) and were able to do muiltple scenarios on what we may come across on highway accidents! Thanks to all who attended and hope we can do more local training again!

Unfortunately our vehicle extraction training was cancelled this weekend due to unforeseen circumstances, but that didn’t stop us from doing some quick in house training!

Today we focused on proper commucations between attack teams, incident command, and pump operations while fighting internal fires. Also took advantage of the nice day to run the pumps and get fresh water running through the trucks!

Thanks to all who attended.

Last night at the annual Lemberg Agri-Dinner, LFD was honoured to recognize 6 of their members!

These men were presented with the Fire Services Exemplary Service Medals. These medals are awarded by the Crown to honour members of a recognized Canadian fire service who have completed 20 years of service, with at least 10 of those years involving duties with potential risk. Exemplary service is defined by good conduct, dedication, and efficiency—qualities each of these individuals have demonstrated throughout their careers.

Brent Kohlert - 26 years
Dan Scheier - 32 years
Bob Pfiefer - 37 years
Grant Hitchens - 37 years
James Jarocki - 37 years
Dennis Dixon - 45 years

This is 214 years of combined service to the Lemberg Fire Department!

Along with the medals, Dennis Dixon and James Jarocki were presented with commemorative fire axes for their years of service being a dedicated Fire Chief & Deputy Fire Chief!

Dennis served as Fire Chief beginning in April 2007 and held that role for 19 years, providing steady leadership and guidance to the department and community.

James served as Deputy Fire Chief for 18 years, supporting the department with dedication and commitment.

Congrats to everyone involved, it was a great evening and we were proud to show the commitments to the fire department!
