A lush Carolinian forest oasis at the southern tip of Canada, Point Pelee National Park resounds with migrating song birds in the spring, hums with cicadas in the summer, flutters with Monarch butterflies in the fall and is a peaceful place of reflection in the winter.

Music and Monarchs? Count us in!

Come to on September 27 from 11 am to 2 pm for Flutter – a fantastical opera tale of the Monarch Butterfly’s migration from Point Pelee, Canada to Mexico.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and join us in front of the Camp Henry Mess Hall to take in this unforgettable experience for the whole family.

Here are some Turkey Vulture facts for !

These large birds ride thermals and fly with their wings in a V shape.

Their sense of smell leads them to carcasses and their bald heads allow them to devour lunch without ruffling a feather.

Monday, September 7 is the final day of free admission for the 2026 season thanks to the Pass.

Without LESSS, our Savannah would be a mess!

Savannah habitats rely on periodic disturbance to maintain ecological balance and keep shrubs and trees from shading out special savannah species including numerous species of wildflowers which butterflies rely on.

Over time, the introduction of invasive plants, the alteration of the landscape from farming, the historical suppression of fire, and a changing climate have all taken their toll on ’s savannah.

To combat these factors, these sites need a helping hand from the Resource Conservation team’s Lake Erie Sand Spit Savannah restoration project (LESSS) to remove shrubs and trees to keep the savannah healthy.

This year, our team will be working around the West Beach Footpath and Sparrow Field.

Moses Lunham created the trilingual (Anishinaabemowin, English, French) mural in the fall of 2025 and the final result was unveiled this past June.
