Youth voices are making a difference in Leamington! 🌱

Thanks to a presentation by the Leamington District Secondary School EcoTeam, Council has approved approximately 60 new recycling bins for six municipal parks and recreational facilities and will prioritize natural plantings over artificial turf in municipal rights-of-way and public parks.

Green Bin collection is coming to Leamington in November 2026! ♻️🌱 More details will be shared in the coming months.

Our only landfill is a remarkable and rare asset. However, it’s nearing its capacity.

If the Region needs to site and build a new landfill, the costs to taxpayers would be enormous. That’s why responsibly using the landfill is key.

That means valuable resources like food waste need to go in the Green Bin. This would cut down the amount of residential garbage that is sent to the landfill by almost 50%! If everyone did that, imagine the impact!

Be mindful and Green Bin your food waste. It’s too good to waste.

Planning to attend a municipal event this summer?

Earlier this year, the Province of Ontario introduced a framework that allows participating municipalities to permit bring-your-own alcohol at certain outdoor public events.

The Municipality of Leamington has not chosen to participate and has not adopted a by-law permitting bring-your-own alcohol at municipal parks or events. Previous rules related to alcohol in public spaces remains in effect and alcohol is not permitted unless specifically authorized.
