Hello Douro-Dummer! Here's what's coming up in June at the library. Don't miss the beautiful new show up in the the DDPL Art Gallery by artist Jillian Rumsey titled "The Herd: From Winter Into Spring". A scavenger hunt, the launch of our summer reading challenge, and lots of weekly programming for all ages and interests. Happy spring to all!

You can do so much with a Douro-Dummer library card: come to dynamic programs and events for all ages and interests, access Peterborough and Asphodel-Norwood libraries, get free passes to Ontario Parks and the Canadian Canoe Museum, or stream your favourite British mystery show at home. Coming up this Tuesday, May 19th from 1-3PM in the library - a unique opportunity to try cyanotype printmaking with Jillian Rumsey, the artist currently showing in the gallery. Ages 12 and up. Curious about our Death Café? We're holding our seventh one on Wednesday, May 20th from 10:30AM-Noon in the library. This program is a chance for community members to gather and share ideas, curiosities, and conversations about death and dying. There is no expectation from attendees: come to talk or just come to listen to what others have to say. We will also have lots of treats, tea, and coffee, as well as books and resources on the topic. Please note, this is not a bereavement group, though library staff can always point you to other community supports.

A chapbook is a little booklet of papers you publish yourself. Come on out to DDPL on Tuesday, April 28th for a brief presentation on the history of chapbooks, and browse through a collection of chapbooks made by local artists and poets. Afterward, we'll spend time together making our own. If you have poems you want to publish, bring them along, if not, make a blank book for future writing! Supplies will be provided. See you there!
