Honouring 100 years of the Lacombe Golf & Country Club

Lacombe County was proud to support the installation of a commemorative sign recognizing the Lacombe Golf & Country Club's 100th anniversary. Established as a permanent golf course in 1919 and incorporated in 1925, the Club has been a cornerstone of recreation, community, and local history for generations of residents.

While County policy traditionally provides heritage recognition signage for historic schoolhouses and community halls, Council recognized the Golf Club's century-long contribution to the community and supported this special project as a reflection of its historical significance to Lacombe County.

Congratulations to on 100 years of memories, friendships, and community pride!

DATA CENTRES | Why are we talking about data centres?

You may have noticed more discussion about data centres recently. So why are they becoming a topic of interest?

Data centres are the facilities that power many of the digital services we use every day, including online banking, streaming services, cloud storage, video conferencing, social media, and artificial intelligence (AI). As demand for these technologies continues to grow, municipalities across Alberta are receiving inquiries about potential data centre developments.

Lacombe County's role is not to promote or oppose individual projects. Instead, the County reviews any proposal through established planning and development processes to determine whether it is appropriate for the proposed location and compatible with surrounding land uses.

We know residents have questions. That's why we've created a dedicated information page explaining:

✅ What data centres are
✅ Why they're being proposed in Alberta
✅ How projects are reviewed
✅ What role the County plays
✅ How residents can stay informed and participate in the process
