Today, September 11, we remember the 2,977 people who lost their lives on 9/11, including the 343 members of the FDNY who made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to the attacks.
We also remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and other first responders who answered the call that day and in the years that followed.
Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others will never be forgotten.
From the members of the City of Lacombe Fire Department, we remember and honour those who gave everything in service to others.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming members of City of Lacombe Council and Administration to our new Fire Training Facility.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Council and Administration for believing in our vision and for continuing to trust and support the City of Lacombe Fire Department.

This facility is about more than training — it is an investment in our firefighters, our preparedness, and most importantly, the safety and well-being of our community. It will help us continue to train, grow, and be ready to serve our community when we are needed most.

We are incredibly grateful for the support that helped make this facility a reality. Together, we are building a stronger, safer community for today and for generations to come.

Lacombe Fire Department Responds to Vehicle Fire Hwy 2 North of Lacombe.

Lacombe, Alberta | August 3, 2026

At approximately 5:16 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, the City of Lacombe Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle fire involving a truck and trailer on Highway 2, north of Lacombe.

Fire crews arrived on scene at 5:30 p.m. to find the truck and trailer fully involved in fire, with spot fires extending into the adjacent ditch. Fire crews extinguished the fires and brought the incident under control at 5:42 p.m.

Highway 2 was temporarily closed to provide firefighters with a safe working area and to allow crews to contain the fire. The roadway was reopened once the scene was deemed safe. All units cleared Highway 2 at 6:12 p.m.

All occupants of the vehicle safely exited prior to the arrival of emergency crews. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.

A total of three City of Lacombe Fire Department apparatus responded to the incident. Fire crews were assisted by the RCMP, who provided traffic control and scene support throughout the response.

Cause of Vehicle Fire is listed as undetermined.

The City of Lacombe Fire Department would like to thank motorists for their patience, cooperation, and understanding while emergency crews worked to safely extinguish the fire and protect the surrounding area. The cooperation of the public plays an important role in ensuring the safety of both emergency responders and the travelling public during incidents of this nature.

Lacombe Fire Department Responds to Residential Structure Fire on 57 Street

Lacombe, Alberta | August 2, 2026

At approximately 11:28 a.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, the City of Lacombe Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire in the 5000 block of 57 Street.

Fire crews arrived on scene at 11:37 a.m. to find a single-family residence with smoke visible from the eaves. The main body of the fire was contained at 12:04 p.m., significantly limiting further fire spread.

Firefighters confirmed that the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Crews remained on scene, and ensured the structure was safe before the property was released back to the property owners at 3:38 p.m.

A total of five City of Lacombe Fire Department apparatus responded to the incident, supported by an ambulance from Red Deer Emergency Services and members of the Lacombe Police Services. As a result of the fire, two residents and their pets have been displaced from their home. No injuries to civilians or emergency responders were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The City of Lacombe Fire Department extends its appreciation to all responding personnel for their coordinated and professional efforts. We also thank members of the public for their prompt notification of the fire, which allowed emergency crews to respond quickly and minimize further damage.

A big thank you to everyone who joined on Thursday for our Pop-Up Spray Park! We had a blast helping residents cool off and have some summer fun. Watch for another one soon, when weather cooperates.

Incident Update – TWP 402

The City of Lacombe Fire Department returned to the scene this afternoon to provide fire protection while vehicle recovery operations were completed.

The vehicle has now been safely recovered, brought back onto the roadway, and turned over to the contractor. There are no remaining hazards at this location, and the incident has been cleared.

Thank you to everyone for your patience while crews worked to safely complete the recovery.

Update: City of Lacombe Fire Department units have now cleared the scene on 402. This product is stable with in the vehicle and is fully contained.

The owner of the product is currently activating their Emergency Response Plan to safely remove the residual product from the vehicle. This process will be completed by the responsible parties in accordance with established procedures.

We will provide another update once the product has been removed and the incident has been fully resolved.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to complete the planned flare yesterday.

The Lacombe Fire Department is back on scene this morning, working alongside the equipment owners to safely prepare for flaring, which is expected to begin at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Residents in the area may notice flames, and increased activity during the operation. This is a planned and controlled process.

City of Lacombe Fire Department is on scene of an over turned semi containing residual compressed gas.

This is located south of Lacombe off of Hwy 2A on TWP 402. This section of 402 is closed until operations are completed.

This will take approximately 4 hours to set up and flare off the material.
