We have just heard that scammers are now using the Lac La Biche County phone number asking for people to confirm their SIN numbers.

No county will ever call and ask for that information. Please NEVER give your SIN number to anyone over the phone.

Hang up and call the RCMP

New scam...

I just got a call on the office phone that our computer is having "critical" issues.

DO NOT give anyone remote access to your computer. Then they control everything on it.

Hang up.

If your computer is popping up messages take it to the local computer store. They can help solve the issue.

Scammers are at it again...
The calls from Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and "Credit Card" companies have started again.

Please remember NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER or CARD NUMBER/PIN. The agency would have that info already.

CRA: will NEVER ask for gift cards, I tunes or Google play. They will NOT send the RCMP to arrest you. Why would they when they can freeze your accounts and assets?
All payments CRA ever demand are to be paid at a bank teller or by check/bank draft.
CRA would never tell you to keep the phone on speaker so they can hear your conversation ... only scammers do that.
If they are using a threatening tone. Hang up, dial the CRA at 1-800-267-6999 and ask about your account. If there has been an issue you would have sent you a letter before hand.

CREDIT CARDS SCAM: they tell you there has been suspicious activity on your account. They want you to confirm your card # and PIN...NO, NO, NO...
Your company has your secret questions and answers.
Hang up. Call your Credit Card company (number is on the back of your card) ask if they called about suspicious activity. If they have, no harm done, you have done your due diligence. If they haven't you have just saved your card, credit and identity.

It is not rude to hang up on these people. They are trying to take your hard earned money and your identy from you. Please hang up on them.

Phone the Canadian Anti-Fraud line 1-888-495-8501. Tell them the number that called you and the details.

Please protect yourself
