π₯ September is International FASD Awareness Month π₯
This year's theme, "Everyone Plays a Part: It Takes a Community," reminds us that supporting individuals and families affected by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a shared responsibility.
FASD is a lifelong disability that affects the brain and body of individuals who were exposed to alcohol during pregnancy. It impacts how a person learns, communicates, and navigates daily life. Every individual with FASD has unique strengths, and with understanding, support, and inclusion, they can thrive in their communities.
Did you know?
πΉ FASD is the leading known cause of developmental disability in Canada.
πΉ Approximately 4% of Canadians are affected by FASD.
πΉ September 9 (9/9) is International FASD Awareness Day, representing the importance of remaining alcohol-free throughout all nine months of pregnancy.
