Please share this with anyone you know who lives on the Grand River watershed!!!! It's urgent. The Conservation Authority is being pressured by Ford's govt to sell off wetlands/floorplain lands. This will put homes and infrastructure at risk of flooding, as well as compromise the protection of essential wetlands and waterways. I left the letter I wrote in the link (not sure if it will still be there with a repost of the website; if it is, use or write your own letter). Just please do this quickly.

The Grand River Conservation Authority is planning a 'land disposition' that would eventually allow sprawl developers to build housing on land that is currently preserved by the conservation authority. Sign this action calling on the GRCA to reconsider!

Below is a letter from Maude Barlow, who was one of the founders of the The Council of Canadians In the years since, the Council has worked nationally and, through our Chapters, on behalf of Canadians and our communities. But we need help now. Below her letter, you'll find a link where you can donate, if you can afford to do so. If you're so inclined, please feel free to share this message with your networks.

When I helped form the Council of Canadians 40 years ago, Canada was deep into a debate about its future and very soul. President Ronald Reagan and Prime Minister Brian Mulroney were negotiating a free trade agreement intended to harmonize our economies, a move that would have far-reaching ramifications for our culture, foreign policy, and social programs. We said at the time that integrating our economy with that of a superpower – through a deal being promoted by American corporations eager for Canada’s resources – was a decision we might learn to regret.

Today, we face the consequences of that agreement Canada signed so long ago. Donald Trump has no regard for any agreement that does not benefit his “Manifest Destiny” ambitions, and Canada is in danger. Trump has made it clear he sees our border as false and our country as an extension of his own, and he will try to claim what he wants. I am deeply worried he will come for our water – water that is desperately needed to fight climate change and drought right here in our own communities. We must say no!

This is a moment we are called to come forward for Canada – the Canada that stands up for human rights, universality, and environmental justice. Forty years ago, I set out to help build a strong Council of Canadians so that we could fight the fall-out from the corporate trade deal. We can and must do it again.

The Council of Canadians is the organization Canadians need right now to represent the voices of ordinary Canadians. Canadians who will be impacted now and into the future by corporations pursuing profit at all costs.

We need a strong Council of Canadians to do that.

To respond to the fierce urgency of now, I am making a special appeal for donations to the Council. The Council must have the capacity and the resources to lead this fight. Please give generously today for a better future!

Make a donation to help realize the better Canada we want and know is possible! Your donation to the Council of Canadians helps us in the fight to put people before profits. It supports hard-hittin…

Nailed it. When even FOX is saying this, Canadians need to do some hard thinking - and voting - to not follow the US down the rabbit hole of lies and smug slogans. We also have do all that is possible not to split our vote on the left - and thereby allowing the CPC to come up the middle with a majority, like Ford and other conservative premiers have in about 8 of our provinces. Go to www.cooperateforcanada.ca
Vote as if your future and that of your children depends on it - because it does.
