We have trained hundreds of folks around the world in Transformative Mediation. Join this growing community of practitioners approaching relationships and conflict transformation differently with our upcoming in-person delivery.

Unlike traditional approaches that focus on resolving issues or reaching agreements, transformative mediation emphasizes shifting the quality of conflict interactionโ€”encouraging personal growth, relational repair, and increased capacity for dialogue. Participants will learn to stay present in difficult conversations, support self-determination, and foster constructive engagement, even in high-conflict situations.

Ideal for community leaders, educators, justice practitioners, and anyone committed to healing-centered practices, this training includes:

โ€ข Fundamental frameworks of Restorative Justice
โ€ข Core frameworks of transformative mediation
โ€ข Skills-based practice in reflective listening and multi-partial
facilitation
โ€ข Role-plays based on real-life conflict scenarios
โ€ข Exploration of power dynamics, trauma, and cultural
context in mediation
โ€ข Guidance on applying these principles in community,
organizational, or justice settings

Led by experienced restorative practitioners, this training supports a shift from managing conflict to transforming relationshipsโ€”honoring the humanity of all involved.

We Believe Survivors.

Today, on April 24, 2026, Justice Craig Parry found ex-Kitchener neurologist Jeffrey Sloka not guilty of 48 counts of sexual assault.

16 years have passed since initial instances of sexual harm were reported. Sloka was arrested and criminally charged almost 7 years ago. Through these years, those impacted by the Sloka case have been asked to live alongside an ongoing legal processโ€”one that requires repeated revisiting of harm, prolonged uncertainty, and re-traumatization.

We hold care for all of the survivors directly impacted by Jeremy Sloka, as well as survivors who have been indirectly impacted, and for the community at large.

We recognize that legal outcomes do not determine the truth of peopleโ€™s experiences, nor do they meet the full scope of harm caused.

We dream of a world where survivors of sexual harm are believed, held with care, and experience accountability that feels meaningful to them.

HAPPY NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK!
This National Volunteer Week, we proudly celebrate the heart of our community, CJI Volunteers! CJI Volunteers reclaim justice as a community practice rooted in accountability, dignity, consent and repair.

To all CJI Volunteers, thank you for your time, compassion, and unwavering commitment to community! Every hour, every effort, and every act of care for your community makes a meaningful difference.

โ€œThe people who volunteer at CJI are a pretty incredible community that we, as staff, feel incredibly lucky to get to work with." - Kate Crozier, CJI Executive Director

Video Images Description: A warm and uplifting montage celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Week. The video opens with a diverse group of adults gathered around a table in a bright meeting space, collaborating and sharing ideas. It transitions to a more intimate scene of people seated in a circle, hands resting gently as one person writes notesโ€”suggesting support, listening, and community care. The final scene shows three women outdoors, smiling and laughing together in golden sunlight, capturing a sense of connection and joy. The video closes with the CJI (Imagine a Just Community) logo, reinforcing a message of gratitude, inclusion, and the impact of volunteers bringing people together.
