The link between childhood abuse and the increased risk of experiencing or perpetrating violence later in life is undeniable. 🔗💔

When childhood abuse goes unaddressed, its effects don’t simply disappear. The trauma can have lasting impacts on a person’s relationships, emotional wellbeing, and future. 😢

❤️‍🩹 Early intervention, prevention, and access to supportive services are essential to breaking the cycle of violence, supporting survivors, and protecting future generations.

We're so grateful for the wonderful partnership and support of Guelph Community Foundation! Together, we're changing the lives of young victims and their caregivers in Guelph and Wellington County for brighter futures. 🩵

This week's features 2025 Community Grant reciepents Child Witness Centre !✍️

In 2025 and 2026, Child Witness Centre continued to provide trauma-informed support for children, youth, and families in and Wellington County impacted by crime and abuse. They support these clients as they navigate complex legal systems and processes. Through advocacy, emotional support, and guidance, young people are empowered to feel safe, heard, and supported through these difficult challenges.

Pictured here is Monet, one of CWC's accredited facility service dogs working in the criminal justice system in the Region of Waterloo. Monet works alongside CWC's frontline workers, supporting children and youth who are victims or witnesses of crime. 🐕‍🦺

We are grateful to have been able to help fund such a vital initiative that helps children, youth, and families heal, build resilience, and move forward with hope.💜

We’re the possibility of a Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) to serve Guelph and Wellington County. This would extend our supports beyond the court process in this territory – to include during criminal investigations (which we already offer at the CYAC of Waterloo Region).

Your responses in our exploration will help us understand whether the time is right to move forward and what would need to happen to succeed. Completing the survey does not commit you or your organization to participating in the project, and can be submitted anonymously if desired.

We're so grateful for the $11,000 we received from The City of Guelph this year! This is truly an investment in the wellbeing of child and youth victims of crime in , and their caregivers. 🩵

As we provide our trauma-informed and services throughout the judicial process, these young people and their families will experience a greater sense of healing, stability, and hope for tomorrow.

🤔 Did you know we support over 150 young people in Guelph and Wellington County each year? By reducing re-victimization and improving mental health outcomes, the entire becomes healthier and stronger.

This October is an opportunity to raise awareness, stand with children and youth, and highlight the efforts across our country to prevent and respond to child abuse. 🩵

Children deserve the best start in life. And when they're taken care of, the downstream impact is enormous. It can stop the cycle of harm and bring about countless positive outcomes.

We all play a role towards a safe and healthy community.
