We're saddened to learn of the passing of David Cooke.

David was married to Myrta Rivera who was our Executive Director for over 25 years. David's contributions to the Centre, the City of Kitchener, and the world were significant and lasting.

David was raised in Kingston, Ontario. He attended KCVI before studying at Queen's University. As a young man, he proudly served with the Fort Henry Guard. Called to the Ontario Bar in 1967, David moved to Kitchener, where he made his home for decades. He began his legal career as Assistant City Sol...

Today is Canada Day!

Our clients have moved to Waterloo Region from all over the world based upon the hope and promise that Canada represents.

At the same time, Canada - and all of us - still have a lot of work to do in coming to terms with the ugly realities of the legacy of colonialism, residential schools, and ongoing injustices.

However you choose to mark this day, we recognize that we're fortunate to live in the best country in the world. Let's work together to make it better.

On June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day, members of the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre were honoured to attend the Sacred Fire Dedication at the newly opened Tsi Thatitsyenhayentáhkwen (Indigenous Peoples Gathering Space).

Thank you to everyone who made this space possible. We are grateful to stand alongside our community in recognizing, celebrating, and supporting Indigenous cultures, voices, and traditions.
