Happy Attendant Services Day!

Today, we celebrate our Attendants and the important role they play in the lives of our Consumers.

Their work goes beyond daily tasks. It’s about making Independent Living possible for each Consumer by supporting their rights and responsibilities and promoting their continued independence through self-directed services.

Our Attendants bring skill, dedication, and commitment to their work, helping ensure our Consumers can live life their way.

To our Attendants: THANK YOU for everything you do! Your contributions make a meaningful difference in the lives of our Consumers and the community we serve. We celebrate you and the work you do!

Learning, connecting and growing together! 💜

At ILWR, learning never stops! Our annual staff training brought together more that 160 team members over several days, with rotating sessions and smaller groups to make the experience engaging, interactive and meaningful for everyone.

From hands on practice with transfers, activities of daily living, hand hygiene and PPE, to exploring cybersecurity, HR, Operations, staff wellness, and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), there was something for everyone to learn, practise and take back to their roles.

These opportunities allow us to share knowledge, strengthen our skills and continue building on the work we do to support our Consumers and the community we serve.

A special thank you to our leadership team for listening to feedback from previous years and using it to make this year’s training extra special! And thank you to everyone who organized, led and participated in the sessions.

ILWR HAS TALENT! 🎶

Who knew we had so many karaoke stars on our team?

At our first-ever Employee Appreciation Event, our staff showed us they’re not just talented at what they do, they’re also ready to take the mic! And forget the usual karaoke classics. Our team had a set list all their own!

👏 Allan kicked things off with Achy Breaky Heart, giving Billy Ray Cyrus a run for his money.

🎶 Donna took us back with These Boots Are Made for Walkin’.

🎤 Angelica and Mariam teamed up for Breathless.

✨ Andee reached new heights with Defying Gravity.

🔥 Martin showed off his range, going from rap star with Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It to country crooner with Red Solo Cup.

🏆 And bringing the house down with a show-stopping finale, Emily closed out the event with All I Do Is Win! Talk about ending on a high note!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this first-ever event, took the mic and shared their talents. You made it a memorable celebration of our amazing team!

ILWR needs some creative assistance from you!!!

We are excited to announce that we are launching a new newsletter in November. We are looking forward to sharing stories with Consumers, staff, community partners, and the community at large about the work we do, upcoming internal and community events, and information about the disability community.

Can you think of some catchy names??? We hope so! If you submit the winning name, you will receive a $25 gift card of your choice.

Today we are honouring Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities, and recognizing the lasting impacts of Canada’s Residential School system. These commemorations provide an opportunity to deepen Canada’s understanding of the intergenerational effects of residential schools and to reflect on their enduring legacy as part of the ongoing journey toward truth, healing, and reconciliation.

We are grateful for the opportunity to operate and meet here and affirm our collective commitment to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our organization.
