I just want to say a great big thank you to all who supported me on my journey. Although I wasn’t the successful candidate it was a wonderful and humbling experience. Congratulations to all those that won their bid for the election. And a thank you to all the brave and courageous souls that put forth their name to run. Ultimately we all have the same desire and vision .. to make Kitchener and our Region the best it can be.

Well I have to say it was an exhilarating feeling seeing my name on the voting ballot. Here's hoping 🙏 I was saddened to see however some of my competitors over the weekend and again today not playing fair and breaking bylaws. I'm sorry they feel they have to go to those lengths.

Happy Diwali to all those in our community who celebrate. For those that don't know ... "Diwali, India's biggest and most important holiday of the year, is a festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the human ability to overcome." A wonderful philosophy and message for everyone.

As I sit down this evening and reflect on the last few months of campaigning I am feeling so many feels. Mainly I feel very blessed and grateful. Blessed by those around me, our community, our city, and our region. We truly live in one of the very best places. My gratitude is far reaching. I am so grateful for this opportunity. This experience has been amazing. I have learned so much already and can't wait to learn more. I am grateful to all of those that believe in me; all those I have met thus far on this journey; all the phone calls, emails and inquiries that have shown me how engaged our constituents and our community is, and most importantly I am grateful to call Ward 3 and Kitchener my home.

Tomorrow is election day and win or lose I will still feel blessed and grateful. I want to wish all candidates running regardless of the position the very best wishes and a thank you for putting yourself out there and making a commitment to our community.

I hope that if you haven't already, you will take the time tomorrow to exercise your right to vote. It is a privilege and an honour we must take seriously. Our community depends on it. You can find all the details regarding voting on my website at www.marijohoward.ca

Sometimes when we start on a new chapter, a new journey or go down a different path we feel all the feels. I have felt so many of them over the last few months. Anxious, excited, passionate, nervous, self doubt, commitment, worried, grateful, overwhelmed, and many others.

Today I am feeling very thankful and humbled. I love having the opportunity to meet and speak with the constituents in Ward 3, seeing the pride they take in their properties, the questions they ask, and recognizing our shared love of community.

Having constituents reach out with questions via email is even more rewarding as it shows their engagement and commitment to creating an even better community.

On this last day of the advanced polls finding out that some people have already voted, and that they gave you their vote is very humbling. When the first person told me that today I was a little taken aback. I guess in the process that is campaigning I was so focused on trying to reach as many neighbourhoods in my riding as possible, meet as many residents and get my message out to as many as possible that the end result of getting their actual vote had somehow escaped my brain....WOW!

To hear that people actually chose me and voted for me creates even more feels. I guess the reality of my campaign hit me head on today. In a good way of course, but it also adds more pressure in others ways to keep moving forward and stay focused on my ultimate goal for the next 8 days. I don't want to let anyone down, and now that I know some have already given me their vote I am more determined than ever to be Your Voice for Ward 3.

Another amazing donation to 519 Community Collective from COBS Bread Fairway Plaza at Fairway and Manitou. Every Friday evening a volunteer from 519 CC (this evening my husband and I) goes to Cobs Bread at their closing time and picks up all remaining breads, buns and bakery items which in turn goes out to our community in a variety of ways through the support of other volunteers. It really does take a village and I am so grateful to be part of it. Such a small little thing does such big and great amazing things. Thank you Steff Steers and employees (Cobs Bread) and all the volunteers who keep 519 CC going.
