Every day on the campaign trail, I feel a deeper sense of gratitude for this community and the privilege of being elected to serve.

Yesterday was a whirlwind, putting out signs and visits with supporters to showing up alongside people who work every day to make our community feel more connected and included.

It reminds me why this work matters.

Someone asked me yesterday, “Why are you running again?”

My answer was simple: I want to help build a community where residents are heard, perspectives are respected, and our decisions reflect the people we serve.

A region that works
A community for everyone
Leadership that plans ahead

That’s why I’m running for re-election.

The marathon continues. 💜

Highlights from council this week!

Media Release: The Region of Waterloo's Waste Management team continues to support residents through the transition to cart-based collection, and was recognized for these efforts by the Municipal Waste Association (MWA). The team was awarded two Promotion and Education (P&E) awards by the MWA.

The team won a gold P&E award for best print tool for the Residential Waste Collection Information Kit that was attached to the carts. The info kit served as an important tool for residents to get all of the information they needed about the carts ahead of the launch.

The team also won a silver P&E award in the special event category for the 2025 Garage Glow-up, drop-off event. The successful Garage Glow-up event helped residents declutter items that could be recycled, repurposed or reused, keeping them out of the landfill.

“These awards reflect the creativity, professionalism and dedication of the Region’s Waste Management Team, working in partnership with Communications and Creative Multi-media Services,” said Regional Chair Karen Redman. “From helping residents prepare for cart-based collection to promoting reuse and recycling, the team continues to deliver outstanding service and environmental leadership. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.”

The Waste Management team is considering other ways to plan for the waste needs of our community into the future through our Long-Term Waste Management Strategy (LTWMS). For more information about the LTWMS and future waste management initiatives, please visit https://bit.ly/4d9mlXh.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to Sweet Caroline’s for ice cream, conversation, and a little time together.

I had the chance to meet so many wonderful neighbours, hear your stories, and spend time with some pretty amazing kids who are both excited and nervous about heading back to school.

A very special thank you to Sweet Caroline's for opening their doors one last time and giving us a place to gather. To all of my supporters thank you. Because of you, we are able to support local businesses and our community throughout the campaign trail.

All politics is local politics. It’s about the people, the small businesses, the families, the neighbours, and the communities we call home.

Thank you for showing up.

Whether you have a little time to give, want to help spread the word, or simply want to be part of the journey, I’d love to have you with us.

Strong communities take care of the people who helped build them.

Today I had the pleasure of visiting the KW Seniors Program and spending time with some incredible members of our community and dedicated staff.

While this specific program isn’t operated by the Region, supporting seniors takes coordination, collaboration, and partnerships across all levels of our community.

That’s what I believe local government should be about: showing up, listening, building partnerships, and making sure the needs of our seniors are not overlooked.

As I seek re-election, I’ll continue fighting for a Region where seniors can stay connected, active, supported, and valued.

Today’s conversation also highlighted several areas where we can do better. I’m looking forward to bringing those ideas forward and continuing that work next term.
