Notice to Residents of Kirkland Lake
Pedestrian Trail Closure (Murdock Creek)

The Public Works Department is advising residents that the pedestrian trail crossing over Murdock Creek, located between Queen Street and Premier Avenue West, is temporarily out of service.

This closure is required due to the following conditions:
• Water pooling upstream of the culvert, indicating the culvert requires resetting to the proper elevation
• The discovery of a sanitary sewer main located directly beneath the existing culvert, requiring a minor relocation of the crossing

To address these issues, the culvert will be removed and reinstated later this summer in a slightly adjusted alignment that avoids the sanitary sewer infrastructure.

The Town appreciates the public’s patience as this work is completed to ensure the long-term reliability and safety of the crossing.

📢👷Winter sand sweeping is complete!

Public Works has successfully wrapped up this year’s sand sweeping program—finishing approximately 6 weeks earlier than in previous years.

This accomplishment was made possible by:

• The hard work and dedication of our crew
• Favourable weather conditions
• The use of two sweepers, including a new backhoe front-mounted unit added through our 2026 capital program

Great job to the team for helping keep our streets clean and safe!👏
