If you’re planning a visit, a little preparation goes a long way.

QEII Wildlands is a large, non operating park, and having a map helps make your trip smoother. Our official park map is available on our website, and you can also find the link in our Instagram bio.

Being prepared helps you enjoy the landscape with confidence and stay oriented once you’re out on the trail.

It’s that time of year again - and today is World Turtle Day 🐢

Snapping turtles and other turtle species are on the move right now, travelling between wetlands, nesting areas, and shorelines. Along the way, they sometimes need to cross the roads that run through and around the park.

Slowing down and keeping an eye out gives these determined (and sometimes grumpy) slow movers the time they need to cross safely.

Thanks for sharing the road - today and every day. 🌿

Thank you to everyone who stays on established trails when visiting Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands.
Many plants here are slow‑growing and easily damaged by foot traffic.

Stepping off trail, even briefly, can:
crush fragile vegetation
damage thin soils
create new informal trails that spread over time

By staying on marked routes, you help preserve this wild landscape for future visitors and keep sensitive habitats intact.

🌿 Stay on the trail. Tread lightly. Protect what grows slowly.

Visitors 🍂
As we move deeper into fall, here are a few important reminders to help keep your visit safe and enjoyable:

🧡 Wear high visibility clothing
If you're hiking, paddling, or exploring the backcountry, please wear high visibility clothing like blaze orange and ensure your pets are visible too.

❄️ Prepare for Cold Weather
Temperatures can drop quickly this time of year especially overnight. Dress in layers, pack extra clothing, and be prepared for changing conditions.

💧 Low Water Levels
Water levels in the park’s lakes, rivers, and wetlands may be lower than usual. Be cautious when paddling or crossing waterways, and plan your routes accordingly.

🍁 Shorter Daylight Hours
Days are getting shorter! Make sure to start your trip early and carry a flashlight or headlamp just in case.

🐾 Wildlife Awareness
Fall is an active time for wildlife. Keep a respectful distance, store food securely, and follow Leave No Trace principles.

Stay safe and enjoy the beauty of the season!

🌲 Attention QEII Campers! 🌲

Planning a backcountry camping trip to QEII? Remember, only use downed AND dead wood for your campfires! 🔥

Standing dead wood is important habitat for many species.

Cutting standing trees, whether living or dead, is not allowed. Let's all do our part to preserve the beauty and health of our forests. 🌳

Spread the word and help keep QEII pristine for everyone to enjoy! 🌿

🌲 Exploring QEII Wildlands? Stay Hydrated! 💧

Even though the QEII Wildlands might appear flat on a map, the terrain has many subtle inclines and declines. This can make your hike more challenging than expected. Remember to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated, as overexertion can lead to dehydration more quickly than you might think.

Stay safe and enjoy your adventure! 🌿
