The RM of kinistino has updated the fire ban to include the ENTIRE RM. no open burning! With cross over conditions and high winds. Small fires can grow to large wild fires very quickly. Lighting a fire under a fire ban will likely void your fire insurance so we encourage everyone to follow the order. Have a safe weekend!

At 5:31 on may 20th KFD was paged out to a bush fire in the RM of Kinistino. Crews responded with C51T E51T T52T and T51T. C51 was first on scene and quickly stopped forward progress with the help of our global medic fire skid. E51 and T51 worked the fire from the north side and we quickly brought it under control. Crews mopped up all the hot spots and once the fire was out units returned to the haul. Back in service at 7:30pm

At 11:23am on may 13th KFD was toned out to a structure fire on James Smith. Crews responded with E51T T52T and C51T. Firefighters arrived on scene to a fully involved house with heavy fire and smoke showing from the roof. Crews set up a defensive attack and quickly brought the fire under control. Crews were on scene for 4 hrs mopping up hot spots to make sure no fire could spread as conditions are rapidly drying and making flare ups dangerous. Thanks to all the people that were on scene today before we arrived trying to stop the fire from spreading to other structures. Special thank to the band members who delivered plates of food to our crew members it was much appreciated. Crews were back at the hall and back in service at 4:30pm

KFD was paged out at 3:41 pm for reports of multiple vehicles in the ditch along highway 3 west of Kinistino. Crews responded with C51 E51 and R51. Crews arrived on scene and found 4 vehicles that had hit the ditch and were stranded due to the storm. Crews quickly made sure everyone was out and returned to Kinistino. Highway conditions are bad and visibility is near zero. Please drive carefully if you need to head out. Back in service at 4:41 pm

At 5:17 pm on March 18th KFD was paged out to a carbon monoxide alarm going off in the town of Kinistino. Crews arrived on scene entered the home and checked for levels of Carbon monoxide. The furnace and water heater were found to be in working order. Crews checked with a gas monitor and could not find any levels of CO within the home. Members checked the detectors within the home and they were found to be in working order. Crews terminated the call and returned to the hall. We would like to remind people for any reason if your Carbon monoxide detector goes off we will gladly come check to make sure you are safe. Back in service at 5:47 pm

At 10:45 am on March 17th KFD was paged out to a house fire on James Smith. On route command was made aware that a passerby had entered the home and extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher. Someone was found to be still in the residence and he helped her to safety. Crews arrived and checked for hot spots and cleared the house to make sure no one else was inside. Once cleared crews returned to the hall back in service at 12:10 pm

At 12:08 KFD was paged out to a garage fire within the town of Kinistino. Crews arrived on scene to find a snowmobile fully engulfed in flames. Quick action by the home owner and removing the snowmobile from the garage saved their house. Crews quickly extinguished the flames. Once the fire was out crews returned to the hall. Back in service at 12:45

At 11:45pm KFD was toned out to a structure fire in the RM of Kinistino. Crews arrived on scene to a garage that had caught fire and gone unnoticed by the owner. A passer by noticed the flames and called in to 911. The garage was a total loss when crews arrived and the owner did not want our services. Crews returned to the hall back in service at 12:45am
