Good things happen when community connections come together. ☕️💚

We’re excited to share that United Way KFL&A has received a 2026 from The Starbucks Foundation!

This $1,400 grant was made possible through a nomination from Ben, a United Way KFL&A team member who is also a Starbucks barista. Ben recognized the impact of United Way KFL&A in our community and nominated us for this year’s Neighbourhood Grant. We’re incredibly grateful for his support and for bringing these two community connections together.

Thank you to Ben and the Starbucks team for recognizing the work happening right here in our community and helping us continue creating meaningful impact.

And a special thank you to everyone who helped make this possible! From left to right: Jenna, United Way KFL&A’s VP of Resource Development; Dru, Ben and Matt, Starbucks baristas; and Jenny, Store Manager. 💚

Thank you to The Starbucks Foundation and our local Starbucks partners for supporting stronger communities!

August 31 is - a day to remember those lost to overdose and to reaffirm the importance of prevention, compassion, and support.

This year’s theme, “25 Years On. Still Needed.”, marks 25 years of bringing communities together to remember lives lost, raise awareness and take action to prevent overdose.

The truth is, this day shouldn’t still be needed. But it is. Overdose continues to affect individuals, families and communities, including right here in KFL&A.

Sincere appreciation is extended to the local agencies, frontline workers and community members who continue to support people impacted by the overdose crisis and work toward a future where fewer lives are lost. 💜🤝

Because while this day is still needed, it doesn’t have to be forever.
