The Village of Keremeos may undertake marmot conflict management on municipal property where burrowing or related activity is causing damage or creating operational or safety concern. Before any trapping or relocation occurs, the Village will confirm species identification, review non-capture options first, and verify legal authority and release requirements under applicable provincial rules. Work will be carried out by authorized staff or qualified contractors using humane live-trapping practices and site-specific safety controls.
Residents are asked not to approach traps, feed wildlife, interfere with equipment, or allow pets near active work areas. Please keep a safe distance and follow any temporary signage or staff direction in the area. Public safety concerns involving wildlife should be reported immediately to the BC Conservation Officer Service through the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line at 1-877-952-7277. For local regional office contact, staff and residents may also use the Okanagan Regional Office, 102 Industrial Place, Penticton, BC V2A 7C8, Phone 250-490-8200. In an emergency, call 911 first.
Questions about Village operations may be directed to the Village of Keremeos Public Works Department.
