The nomination period for upcoming local election ends at 4:00pm, Friday, September 11th. While the Village office will remain closed, the Chief Election Officer will be available to accept applications until 4:00pm on Friday. The 4pm deadline is strictly legislated, so it is advised to not wait to last minute. The Chief Election Officer can be reached at [email protected]. The village office phone system will not be operational on Friday.

Bears have been spotted within the Village of Keremeos. Garbage is the main attractant of bears. Please remember that garbage must not be placed outside before 5:00am on garbage day. Do not put garbage outside the night before garbage pick up day.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) is reminding residents, property owners, and visitors that garbage is the number one attractant for black bears in the region. Please follow the established curbside collection bylaws to reduce conflicts with bears and other wildlife.

Emergency services will be unavailable from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., today, Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2026 at South Similkameen Health Centre. For emergency care please visit Penticton Regional Hospital or Princeton General Hospital.
If you need life-threatening emergency care (i.e. chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) call 911 for transport to the nearest emergency facility.
If you are unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted, call HealthLink BC at 811, or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This project has been postponed - no road closures this week.

There will be road closures September 9th, 10th & 11th, between 8am and 5pm for the laying of hose for well-flow testing on 9th Avenue between Boundary Road and 1st Street and on 10th Avenue between 1st Street and 2nd Street. Please plan for alternative routes.

The next meeting of Council will take place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 4:30pm, in Council Chambers, 702 4th Street, Keremeos. A Committee of the Whole meeting will take place prior to the regular council meeting at 3:00pm. To review a copy of the agenda packages, please visit keremeos.ca.

A reminder also that the Village Office will be closed on Monday, September 7th, 2026, for the Labour Day holiday.

Volunteers Needed to Keep Inclusive Community Gardens Growing

The Inclusive Community Gardens are at risk of disappearing unless new volunteers step forward to help carry on this important community legacy.
The current garden lead can no longer continue due to health reasons and would hate to see the gardens come to an end.

Why the Gardens Matter
The gardens help combat food insecurity by providing residents of Keremeos with a wide variety of fresh produce. They also offer:
• Healthy food for all;
• A place for community to gather and support each other;
• A place to relax with nature; and
• An opportunity to share your time and talents through volunteering.

Volunteer Help Needed
Volunteers are needed for leading, planting, harvesting, maintenance, irrigation, and building. Any amount of help can make a meaningful difference.

This notice is a friendly reminder for residents who may be eligible to claim the Homeowner Grant on their property taxes but have not yet done so. If the grant was not claimed by July 2nd, an automatic penalty has been applied and the account currently shows an outstanding balance. Please note that if the account remains unpaid as of January 1st, interest charges will begin to accrue.

If you need to update your mailing address or other property ownership information, please contact BC Assessment, as our property owner records are based on the information they provide.

Our apologies for the unavailability of our website late last week. A broken air conditioner at a data center in Phoenix, AZ, that serves our website shut their whole system down.
