Today, KACL is celebrating our incredible Kids Zone educators and child care team and recognizing the important work they do every single day!

Early childhood educators play such an important role in helping children learn, grow, explore, build relationships, and feel a sense of belonging. Through their patience, creativity, compassion, and dedication, our educators create safe, welcoming, and inclusive spaces where every child is valued and supported.

From celebrating little milestones and big discoveries to building meaningful connections with children and their families, the work our Kids Zone team does makes a difference every day.

To our amazing educators: thank you for the heart, care, energy, and commitment you bring to KACL. The work you do matters, and we are so grateful for the positive impact you have on the children and families in our community.

Join us in celebrating and thanking our Kids Zone team today!

Kenora! You really stepped up in support of the 7th annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month’s Light it up! for NDEAM campaign!

KACL’s Employment Services team toured our beautiful city on October 15th to see how our community came together to show their support and engage in this friendly competition of glowing creativity, and you did NOT disappoint!

Teams were clad in purple and blue, as were window displays shining with remarkable support, telling the nation that Kenora understands and values disability employment like no other!

It was a tight vote for the winner who “Lit it up!” best. However, we are pleased to announce that Image One Home & Cottage was the winner! 🏆

A sincere thank you to everyone who showed their support! The month is not yet over, and Employment Services will still be taking time to celebrate all of the inclusive employers they've worked closely with.

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month or NDEAM!

This month, our Employment Services team is on a quest to share information about disability employment in Canada because there is a lot of work to do.

Did you know more than 740,000 Canadians who have a disability were unemployed yet had the potential to work? (Statistics Canada, 2024)

Did you know 71% of employers cited not knowing the skillset of a person with a disability as a barrier to hiring? (CCRW, 2017)

What about 1 in 3 people living with disability being overly qualified for their jobs? (Statistics Canada)

With many sectors facing a staffing crisis, why not hire inclusively?

Interested in learning more about disability employment in Canada and how your business can become an Inclusive Employer? Come meet the KACL Employment Services team on Thursday, October 8th in Market Square anytime between 12:30 – 2pm. Win a prize and learn something while doing it! 🏆
