Thank You, Okanagan! ❤️

The Salvation Army Okanagan Central would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible community for supporting evacuees and firefighters during the Bradley Creek, Quilpituk and Bald Range wildfires that impacted communities across our region.

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to deploy our Emergency Disaster Services team and work alongside so many individuals, businesses, churches, organizations, and volunteers who stepped up to help during a difficult time.

During the initial response phase, The Salvation Army provided more than 5,000 meals and snacks to evacuees and distributed over $75,000 in practical assistance, including emergency relief supports, gas and grocery gift cards, clothing, hygiene products, and other essential items. Volunteers also contributed more than 500 hours of service throughout the emergency response.

This work would not have been possible without the generosity of local businesses, restaurants, churches, elected officials, community groups, volunteers, staff, and countless caring individuals who came together to support those in need.

In the face of adversity, you demonstrated the compassion, generosity, and resilience that make the Okanagan such a remarkable place to call home.

Thank you for caring for your neighbours and showing what community truly means.

As recovery efforts continue, donations remain vital in helping individuals and families affected by the wildfires access practical assistance and ongoing support. To learn more or make a donation, visit www.okanagancentralsalvationarmy.ca.

Bless you all, and thank you for standing with us.

❤️ 36 years of service. 21 years in the Central Okanagan. Countless lives impacted.

Today is a very special—and bittersweet—day as we celebrate the retirement of Donna Thibideau, after an incredible 36 years with The Salvation Army, including 21 years serving right here in the Central Okanagan.

It’s hard to capture the impact of those years in just a few words. Donna has been one of those people who has helped keep so much moving—often quietly behind the scenes. She has supported leaders, staff and volunteers, cared deeply for the people we serve, built strong relationships throughout our community, and faithfully lived out the mission of The Salvation Army.

For more than two decades, Donna has been part of the fabric of The Salvation Army in the Central Okanagan. Her fingerprints are on so much of what has been built here, but her greatest legacy is found in the people she has cared for and encouraged along the way.

Donna, thank you for your faithful service, your heart, your wisdom, your laughter and the love you have brought to this ministry.

And now, after 36 years with The Salvation Army, Donna is stepping into a very important new full-time role—Grandma! ❤️ We have a feeling it might just be her favourite one yet.

Today we celebrate YOU, Donna, and send you into this next chapter with enormous gratitude and every blessing. You have certainly earned it! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Donna on her retirement!

☕ If we served you coffee during the recent wildfires, it was thanks to the generosity of local Tim Hortons owners Dawn & Angelo Fiacco and Kimberly Lockwood, who donated every single cup!

That’s a whole lot of coffee—and a whole lot of community kindness. ❤️

Thank you for helping us care for evacuees, volunteers and our community!

📣 WE’RE HIRING: CASEWORKER!

Do you love walking alongside people, helping them recognize their strengths, overcome barriers, and move toward greater hope and stability?

The Salvation Army Okanagan Central is looking for a Caseworker to join our Community Services team!

This is more than connecting people with resources. It’s about building relationships, preserving dignity, empowering people to take meaningful steps forward, and reminding people that they don’t have to navigate hard seasons alone.

We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, organized, a great listener, and passionate about working with people, not simply for them.

If that sounds like you—or someone you know—we’d love for you to check out the posting and apply!

❤️ Help us spread the word by sharing this post!

A huge thank you to Canco Cares for generously providing delicious butter chicken that we were able to serve to evacuees during the recent wildfire response.

We were so grateful for the many local businesses and organizations that stepped up to care for people during such a difficult time. Thank you, Canco Cares, for being part of that incredible community response! ❤️
