SUCCESS STORY 🎉
Beth’s journey is a testament to perseverance in the face of significant barriers. While raising four children as a single parent, she worked part-time from home, but those opportunities eventually faded. As a person with a disability, an ADHD diagnosis, and a survivor of domestic and ongoing financial abuse, Beth faced challenges that made steady employment feel out of reach. Her career had been placed on hold for years, yet she remained determined to find work that would allow her to support her family and regain stability.
Arriving at WorkBC Centre Kelowna, Beth was support through the BC Employment Assistance for Persons with Disabilities program. She received tailored case management and skills training, along with financial support that made it possible for her to take driving lessons, an essential step toward earning her Class 4 license. With focused guidance, the required approvals were completed quickly, and Beth successfully passed her test, opening the door to a new and flexible career as a taxi driver in a very short timeframe.
Today, success means flexibility, independence, and confidence. Beth can work part-time to nearly full-time hours, adjusting her schedule around her children’s school hours and activities. She’s building financial stability while maximizing time with her kids, proof that with the right support and determination, change is possible.
“I have an “unrestricted” Class 4 license, which opens other doors for me. I enjoy it very much!”
