Yesterday, our community showed up to remember, support and remind one another that no one has to face difficult moments alone.

Thank you to everyone who joined the Su***de Prevention Walk at Mission Creek Greenway. Every person who walked, shared a story, listened or simply stood alongside someone helped make the day meaningful.

A special thank you to Barb Ferrier, who organized the walk in honour of her son, Curtis, and continues to create space for connection, remembrance and important conversations about su***de prevention.

Thank you, Kelowna, for showing up for one another.

When Abi Hudson stepped into the role of co-chair for the 2026 Walk for Mental Health at the Mount Boucherie Secondary School (MBSS), she brought more than leadership skills — she brought lived experience. Having grown up in a family affected by mental health challenges while going through her own, Abi understands the importance of creating spaces where young people feel safe to talk, seek support and know they are not alone.

The MBSS Walk for Mental Health is a community-centered event to raise awareness for youth mental health. In the first three years, the Walk raised a total of $35,652 for mental health services for youth aged 12-24 at Foundry Kelowna. This year (2026), it raised additional $17,607 in support of the new Foundry centre coming to Westside. The event, open to the whole community, consists of a walk through West Kelowna, followed by more events and activities at the MBSS auditorium and field.

We sat down with Abi as she reflects on why the Walk matters and what she hopes it leaves behind.

Our Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is wrapping up summer with another YAP About YAC, and this time, they’ve taken a little inspiration from a certain iconic music video to share the latest on Not Alone: Bridging the Gap. 👀📝

What’s on the cards? Construction for the future Foundry Westside site is expected to begin this winter, YAC will continue meeting monthly, and YAP About YAC is going monthly too!

Summer may be wrapping up, but there’s lots more to come. Follow along as young people continue helping shape the journey to bring Foundry to the Westside.

Our friends at Friends of Felix are helping spread the word about this year’s Better Man Concert — and sharing why creating space for honest conversations about men’s mental health matters to them.

On Saturday, Sept. 19, Better Man returns to Metro Hub in Kelowna for a night of live music, connection and purpose. Proceeds will support the Canadian Men’s Health Foundation and CMHA Kelowna & District’s Not Alone: Bridging the Gap campaign, helping bring Foundry services closer to young people and families on the Westside.

On World Su***de Prevention Day, we remember those we have lost, stand alongside those affected by su***de, and remind our community that reaching out can make a difference.

Conversations matter. Connection matters. And when someone is struggling, help is available.

☑️ Call or text 9-8-8 for Canada’s Su***de Crisis Helpline, available 24/7.
☑️ Call 1-800-SUICIDE (1-800-784-2433), available 24/7 in B.C.
☑️ In Kelowna, call or text CRCL at 778-940-2560, 11 a.m.–8:30 p.m., seven days a week, for yourself or someone else experiencing a mental health crisis, including thoughts of su***de when there is no immediate danger.

If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 9-1-1.

We can help create a community where people feel safe to speak, seek support and be heard.
