Last night Tanya and Melody attended the Kamloops & District Chamber of Commerce Social and spent the evening at the stunning Y Dream Home talking about something we care deeply about… inclusion.

They had some really great conversations about inclusive hiring, opportunities to get involved with KSCI through our Board of Directors, and of course…opportunities to get involved in the upcoming Amazing Race to Inclusion!

One of the best parts of events like this is connecting with people who are curious, open, and wanting to build a more welcoming community together. Those small conversations matter.

And as a fun bonus…they both walked away with door prizes too!

Thank you to everyone who stopped to chat. We always appreciate the opportunity to share a little more about the work happening at KSCI and the importance of inclusion in our community.

We are gexcited to share that KSCI received a $1,000 Community Grant from the Colombo Lodge.

Gifts like this are a meaningful reminder that inclusion is something we build together. When community organizations choose to invest in local work, they help create more opportunities for people with disabilities to be connected, visible, supported, and valued in the places they call home.

Thank you to Colombo Lodge for your generosity and for being part of a community that believes everyone has something to contribute.

Happy Easter long weekend from all of us at KSCI.

A quick note before the Easter Bunny makes the rounds: our office is closed starting today, and we’ll reopen on Tuesday.

We hope the next few days bring you a little extra sweetness (chocolate counts), some rest, and good connection with friends, family, and community.

On March 19, about 70 people gathered for A Place Where I Belong—and it was the kind of night that stays with you. It made space for deeper understanding of the barriers people with disabilities face when exploring sexuality and identity, and for a conversation rooted in respect, truth, and belonging.

We’ve shared a reflection on the evening, including what stood out most and what we’re still holding onto.
