Healing Circle | September 28

Whispering Pines/Clinton Indian Band is hosting a Healing Circle in Kamloops on Monday, September 28 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at 500 McDonald Avenue.

The Healing Circle is open to Indigenous individuals and families looking for a safe and supportive space to connect. Acupuncture treatments and refreshments will be available, with wellness starter kits for first-time attendees while supplies last.

🚌 REMINDER: BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR RETURNING RESIDENTS 🚌

If you need bus transportation to return to Clinton, please call the Clinton EOC at 250-377-6313.

We are collecting the names and contact information of everyone who requires transportation so we can organize one coordinated pickup day and time.

Once arrangements are confirmed, we will contact registered residents with pickup information. For those returning from communities further away, we will provide as much advance notice as possible.

ℹ If you are able to return independently:
Residents who have safe transportation back to Clinton are welcome to return and do not need to wait for the planned bus service.

‼ As of 8:00 a.m. today, Saturday, August 15, the Evacuation Order for Clinton and much of the affected surrounding areas has been downgraded to an Evacuation Alert.

Residents may now return home.

Please remember that you are returning to an area significantly affected by wildfire. Conditions and services will not immediately be back to normal, and some residents will be returning to significant property damage and loss.

💟 A Clinton Resiliency Centre is open at the Curling Club, 1419 Kellow Lane, for residents who need information, support or assistance as they return home.

The Evacuation Alert remains in effect. Be prepared to leave again if conditions change.

Before and after returning, please review the re-entry information provided by the TNRD and Village of Clinton at the Resiliency Centre. It includes important information about water, food and refrigerators/freezers, air quality, property safety, waste disposal, available supports and other conditions you may encounter.

CLINTON RESIDENTS CAN RETURN HOME SATURDAY AT 8 A.M.
Tomorrow is an important day for our community.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, Clinton residents will be able to return home and the Evacuation Order will be downgraded to an Evacuation Alert.
—> An Evacuation Alert means you can return home, but you must remain prepared to leave again if conditions change.

💙 We know how much people have been waiting for this news. We also know that returning home will mean something very different for every person and family.

For many, there will be relief in coming home. For others, the return will bring significant loss, property damage and difficult things to face. And for all of us, recovery will take time.

When you return, Clinton will not yet be back to normal. Some services will be limited, there will be significant cleaning and recovery work ahead, and conditions in and around properties may have changed while residents were away.

Please take your time, follow the re-entry information provided, and look out for one another.

❤️‍🩹 A Resiliency Centre with supports for residents will be set up in Clinton. And, more information will be provided in the coming days as details on a formal Resiliency Centre are confirmed.

The Village of Clinton and Clinton Emergency Operations Centre will continue sharing information about services, supports and recovery resources in the days ahead.

An important update from the TNRD.

Please see the post below for the latest information on the Evacuation Alert and Highway 97 reopening. Take care and travel safely as you make your way home.

The TNRD will be downgrading an Evacuation Order to Evacuation Alert for approximately 373 addressed properties in the vicinity of the Pear Lake wildfire, effective August 15, 2026 at 8:00 am.

Areas being downgraded to Evacuation Alert include Beaverdam Lake, Big Bar Lake, Chasm, Little Big Bar Lake, Meadow Lake, and areas of Highway 97 and Clinton-Pavilion Road near Clinton.

The Village of Clinton will also be downgrading the Evacuation Order to Evacuation Alert for the municipality, effective August 14, 2026 at 8:00 am.

Highway 97 will be open to local traffic through Clinton when the Evacuation Order is lifted, on August 15, 2026 at 8:00 am. Highway 97 will fully open to public traffic as of noon on August 15, 2026.
