🚫🔥🧯FIRE BANS IN EFFECT 🧯🔥🚫

Extreme Fire Conditions (Code Red) are present in most of Saskatchewan today. We will have high temperatures and strong winds in our area today. Although we have not issued a fire ban as of yet, please refrain from using that burning barrel and take caution. Farm equipment can also cause fires so keeping an extinguisher handy is best practice while you work hard to get the crop in. If you have a water tank, also a good idea to have it full at this time. Thank you and stay safe.

⭐️ Cheers to another successful Steak Night fundraiser for the Ituna Volunteer Fire Department. This year was our 8th annual steak night fundraiser. We want to thank everyone who came out to support your local fire department. This year we had a few presentations for our community. First, Travis Keisig for Last Mountain - Touchwood, said a few words about the importance for supporting your local fire department. Then Aaron Buckingham, the Fire Chief of Melville and President of the Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighter's Association came to our event and said a few words about the great job we are doing with fundraising. The last we had a video presentation from Bailey Gardner, a STARS community engagement officer, along with her helper, Shelby Proznick, on stats of STARS Ambulance and how it works in Saskatchewan. We sold tickets throughout the night for a lotto tree, 50/50, raffle table as well as a men’s and woman’s pick a prize table. All items were donated by families and businesses in our community, and we made over $8000 for the draws. Robert Ross with Double R Auctioneering and Appraisals Ltd. did what he does best and helped us raise another $9075 in the Live Auction. Thank you to all that purchased a live auction item! This event would not be possible without the support of the community, and we would like to acknowledge some of these groups and people we are thankful for A big thanks to the sponsors of all our prizes and those that made cash donations. Thanks to the Cornerstone Credit Union for selling tickets for us and doing the food preparation. Thank you to all the additional kitchen workers for prep and the evening to serve. Thanks to Redhead Equipment for the use of the BBQ, and to Bruce Hamilton for helping our members cook steaks. Thanks to the Beaver Hills Wildlife Federation - Ituna, SK for donating some of the refreshments. Thank you to our public speakers: Dylan Kuschak for saying grace, and Robert Ross for being our Auctioneer for the live auction. And thank you to Shelley Harrick for taking pictures for the paper and Heidi Spilchuk for letting me use them. We raised over $35,000 for the Ituna Volunteer Fire Department. Mark your calendars for April 24, 2027 for 9th Steak Night fundraiser. 🥩

New Legislation in The Construction Codes Act and National Building Code of Canada requires every home regardless of year built to have at minimum one Carbon Monoxide alarm for every bedroom area. The code recommends each bedroom has one. Pictured is a sample of the minimum standard for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in your home. All homes have until November 1, 2026 to have Carbon Monoxide alarms installed to be compliant, this includes in all rental properties. chrome-extensio://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://pubsaskdev.blob.core.windows.net/pubsask-prod/129992/May052026-Advisory-CO-Smoke-Alarms-for-Residential-Homes.pdf

Today we celebrate the incredible women who make a difference every single day. 🌎💪

On this International Women’s Day, the Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighters Association wants to recognize and thank all the women around the world — especially the women who help keep our organization moving forward and the many women serving in the first responder community.

From volunteer firefighters, instructors, and officers, to dispatchers, EMS, support staff, and the countless women working behind the scenes — your dedication, leadership, and commitment to your communities does not go unnoticed.

You continue to break barriers, inspire the next generation, and strengthen the fire service and emergency response community across Saskatchewan and beyond.

To the women who train, respond, lead, support, and serve — today we celebrate you. 🚒🔥

Thank you for everything you do.
