💧 Annual Water System Flushing Begins September 7
The District of Invermere will be conducting routine water system flushing from September 7 to October 16, 2026, weekdays between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM.
This important maintenance helps maintain water quality and ensures the reliability of our distribution system. Flushing will be completed zone by zone throughout the community.
Residents may notice temporary discolouration, reduced water pressure, or increased sediment while flushing is taking place in their area. Water treatment and testing will continue as normal.

Thinking about running for office? Nominations are now open for the 2026 General Local Election and School Trustee Election!

The District of Invermere is accepting nominations for:
Mayor – 1 position
Councillor – 4 positions
School Trustee, SD No. 6 (Rocky Mountain), Electoral Area 3 – 1 position

📅 Nomination Period: September 1–11, 2026
⏰ Deadline: 4:00 pm on September 11, 2026
🗓️ General Voting Day: October 17, 2026

Effective at 12 p.m. (noon) Pacific Time on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, Category 1 campfires will be permitted throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, which includes the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District and the Selkirk Natural Resource District.

Other activities which were previously included in the Category 1 campfire prohibition (The use of sky lanterns, and the use of wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building) will now be permitted in the Southeast Fire Centre.

Category 2 and 3 open fire as defined in the Wildfire Regulation remains prohibited.

From BC Wildfire: Effective at 1:00 pm Mountain Time on Friday, August 28, 2026, the off-road vehicles prohibition will be rescinded on Crown land throughout the Southeast Fire Centre.

Recent precipitation across much of the Southern Interior has reduced wildfire risk enough to lift the ORV prohibition. While conditions have improved, wildfire risk remains and can change quickly, so the BC Wildfire Service will continue to monitor conditions closely.

The Lake Windermere & District Lions Club Community Park, nicknamed around town as Spider Park, now has a BRAND NEW ZIPLINE! That’s right…the zipline is now OPEN and READY TO USE!
Come check it out, have some fun and enjoy another awesome addition to one of Invermere’s favourite community parks!
Lions Community Park / “Spider Park” is located on 12th Ave, between 8th & 9th Streets in Invermere.

CONSTRUCTION HAS STARTED! 
After years of planning, fundraising, partnerships and an incredible amount of community support, construction is officially underway to prepare the site for a Velosolutions Canada pump track at Mt Nelson Athletic Park. 

This milestone wouldn’t be happening without the generosity of our funders, major sponsors, local businesses, donors and the many people in our community who have rallied behind this project.
