BACK-TO-SCHOOL SAFETY: ENFORCEMENT IN ACTION

Our officers are out. Dangerous drivers are being taken off our roads.

On September 4, 2026, during proactive patrols, South Simcoe Police officers conducted two separate traffic stops in the Town of Innisfil that resulted in drivers being arrested and charged with impaired driving, including one driver travelling more than twice the posted speed limit.

At approximately 8:45 a.m., officers on proactive patrol on Sideroad 20, near Killarney Beach Public School, stopped a vehicle and determined that the 56-year-old male driver from Waubaushene was impaired. The driver was arrested and charged with two counts of impaired driving.

The driver was also charged with additional offences, including driving with an open container of liquor and operating a motor vehicle without a validated permit.

Licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Less than 30 minutes later, at approximately 9:12 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle travelling 108 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on 10th Line in Innisfil.

The driver told officers he was late for work.

The 29-year-old male driver from Barrie was arrested and charged with stunt driving, speeding and two counts of impaired driving, along with additional offences.

Licence suspended for 90 days, vehicle impounded for 14 days

Two impaired drivers. Dangerous driving stopped. Drivers and vehicles off our roads.

As students return to school, our proactive patrols are focused on identifying and addressing dangerous driving behaviours.

This is about community safety.

It’s about protecting students, families, pedestrians and every person travelling on our roads.

SHARE THE EXCITEMENT, NOT THE PERSONAL DETAILS

As a parent and proud mom, South Simcoe Police Constable Penni Sisak knows how exciting it is to share those first-day-of-school photos. But before you hit post, take a second look at what’s in the photo - you might be sharing more than you intended.

Back-to-school photos can capture more than a big smile and a new backpack.

❌ Details in the background, clothing, signs or captions can reveal your child’s name, school, regular routines, bus route, neighbourhood or other personal information.

✅ Before sharing, take a moment to check what’s visible and consider leaving out details that could identify where your child goes to school, where they live or where they can regularly be found.

✅ You can still celebrate the milestone while protecting their privacy. Consider leaving out their name, using “school” instead of naming the school, and sharing their favourite hobbies, interests or what they want to be when they grow up instead.

Share the excitement and not the personal details. A few simple changes can help keep your child’s information private while you capture those special first-day memories.

From one parent to another, we can celebrate the moments, share the smiles, and make safe choices to help keep our kids safe.

SAFETY ON EVERY JOURNEY

Back-to-school safety is a shared responsibility. There are many ways people travel through our communities, and regardless of how we get from one place to another, knowing the rules, staying alert and making safe choices helps keep everyone safe - not just at the start of the school year, but every day.

As students head back to school, South Simcoe Police are reminding everyone to slow down and stay alert around schools, school buses and community safety zones. We are also reminding parents and students to understand the rules before choosing how they will travel to school.

If an e-scooter is part of your back-to-school plans, know before you ride. E-scooters are NOT permitted in public areas in Innisfil or Bradford West Gwillimbury, including roads, sidewalks, parks and trails.

This applies to everyone - regardless of age or whether the e-scooter is being used for transportation, recreation or to travel to school.

BREAK AND ENTER INVESTIGATION LEADS TO STOLEN PROPERTY, SUSPECTED DRUGS AND 20 CHARGES

A reported break and enter in Innisfil has led to the recovery of stolen property, suspected co***ne and crystal methamphetamine, and multiple arrests following the ex*****on of a search warrant.

(INNISFIL, ON) - On August 31, 2026, South Simcoe Police responded to a reported break and enter incident at a residence in the Town of Innisfil. The victim reported that an unknown person had entered their garage and stolen several tools and other items.

Through the investigation, officers identified individuals believed to be involved in the break and enter and theft.

On September 2, 2026, at approximately 8:25 a.m., members of the South Simcoe Police Street Crime Unit and Emergency Response Unit attended a residence on Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil to execute a search warrant in relation to this investigation.

During the search, police recovered property believed to have been stolen during the break and enter. Officers also located approximately 35.74 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 27.51 grams of suspected co***ne, along with items indicative of drug trafficking.

As a result of the investigation, five individuals were arrested and charged with a total of 20 Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences, while a warrant has been issued for a sixth individual. The following individuals have been charged in connection with this investigation:

34-year-old Innisfil male:
• Break and enter a place with intent to commit an indictable offence, contrary to Section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Trafficking in stolen goods under $5,000, contrary to Section 355.2 of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Schedule I substance - co***ne, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of Schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Theft under $5,000, contrary to Section 334(b) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an undertaking and subsequently transported to Barrie Police Service in relation to outstanding warrants.

32-year-old Innisfil male:
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused was held for a bail hearing and provided with a future court date.

40-year-old Barrie male:
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Schedule I substance - co***ne, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Obstruction, contrary to Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code

A warrant has been issued for the accused.

31-year-old Innisfil female:
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Schedule I substance - co***ne, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of Schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused was released on an undertaking and provided with a future court date.

31-year-old Innisfil female:
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance, contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused was released on an undertaking and provided with a future court date.

44-year-old Innisfil female:
• Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Possession of Schedule I substance - co***ne, contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

The accused was released on an undertaking and provided with a future court date.

Today, we were proud to officially welcome Adley Blais to the South Simcoe Police family with his swearing-in and badge presentation as a First-Class Constable.

Constable Blais joins us from the Toronto Police Service, bringing with him more than three years of policing experience, along with a strong foundation of knowledge, dedication, and experience that he is excited to bring to the service.

Reflecting on his career journey to the South Simcoe Police Service, Constable Blais put it perfectly, “I took a little detour, but I am home now.” We couldn’t be happier to have you here, Adley!

OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH OUR POLICING FAMILY

It is with heavy hearts that we share in the grief of our Barrie Police Service family following the tragic loss of Sergeant Brett Carleton.

Sgt. Carleton dedicated himself to serving and protecting others, earning the respect of those who had the privilege of working alongside him. His loss is felt deeply, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones.

From our South Simcoe Police family to our Barrie Police family, please accept our deepest condolences. We share in your sorrow and want you to know that your policing family stands beside you during this difficult time. We understand the profound impact of losing one of our own. In times like this, we support one another, remember those we have lost, and carry their memory forward.
