Housing and Boundary Adjustment
I have always been in favour of more affordable housing for our Seniors. We were fortunate to have seen the former Victory Memorial School property transformed into a Seniors Housing Facility. While this is a great beginning I will continue to do whatever I can to see that more affordable housing becomes available in the future.
Understanding our shortage of available land, I have supported the need for a boundary adjustment with our neighbour(s). Such an acquisition of land would allow our community to grow both Residential and Commercial/Industrial sectors. This growth would allow us to grow our tax base and stabilize our revenue stream. Although we came very close to an agreement in principle this term with our neighbours to the south, I will continue to push and support the completion of such an agreement in the future.

Downtown
As a long time business and property owner in the Downtown, I continue to take an active role. I continue to support the Downtown BIA and have done my part to move forward the beginning steps toward a Heritage Building Preservation plan. I have also pushed to see the long awaited Community Improvement Plan finally put together and adopted. This program will see money and incentives available to property and businesses to improve their property and preserve our Downtown.

Financial Responsibility
We cannot ignore our ongoing fiscal responsibilities to the community and need to continue working diligently in the future to ensure the structural, economic and financial health of our town. Over this term I have done my part to move forward with other mainstream concerns such as industrial, commercial and residential growth, budgets, reserves and infrastructure, including the needs of our Seniors. Over the past 4 years while we have experienced a tax increase(s) we have not incured any new debt, have continued with some much needed capital projects and increased our reserves to fund any future needs and obligations. Due to this strategy the Town of Ingersoll is in good financial shape and I would see us continue to work on our budget, asset management and infrastructure as we continue to protect our current and future assets. In addition, I feel strongly that we need to maintain a close watch on town matters such as upper tier government transfer cutbacks and increasing costs as we strive to keep municipal budgets in line and in order. It is essential to take this kind of responsible approach with respect to future tax increases.

Landfill
Certainly the fight against the proposed Landfill will continue to be front and centre, over the past 4 years, as an Elected Official, I have approved the allocation of funds to assist in the fight. I have shown support to all groups against the Landfill, attended meetings, met with Ministers, MP's, MPP's and other Municipal Leaders to bring to their attention our concerns with this Landfill proposal. I have supported the hiring of private consultant and have personally campaigned for the Right of a Community to Approve or Reject any new landfills or waste facilities. I will continue to support the fight against the proposed Walker Landfill and will continue to keep this issue in front of the Ontario Government and remind them of the support we have obtained through our Right to Approve, or Reject, campaign and endeavor to see that this becomes a choice for communities in the future.

Residents of Ingersoll,
I would begin by thanking you for the privilege to serve as a Town Councillor for the past 4 years. For those new to our community, my name is Mike Bowman. For most of my life I've called Ingersoll my home. Married to my loving and supportive wife Charlene, I have been co-owner of a family run small business in the downtown – Millcreek Printing – for more than 30 years.

In addition to Town Council, I continue to serve on a number of Town committees, focus groups and remain an active member of the Community. I am also Past President of the BIA Board of Directors where I currently serve as Council Representative.

While I continue to work with our present Council to put together a plan for the future, I believe that there are areas that continue to require focus and attention during the next term and beyond.
