Environment Canada has lifted their Special Air Quality advisory – as a result, the open-air burn ban for South-West Oxford is no longer in effect. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

A permit is required for all open-air burning in the Township. Residential permits (for campfires) are free, and are valid for one year. Apply for a permit online: https://swox.burnpermits.com/

The open-air burn ban remains in effect for South-West Oxford until Environment Canada rescinds their special air quality advisory statement. Campfires will not be permitted until the ban is lifted. Fireworks will be permitted. Please follow all By-laws and safety precautions.

By-law information: https://www.swox.org/en/township-services/by-laws-and-policies.aspx

Although the Township is current under an open-air burn ban due to the Special Air Quality statement issued by Environment Canada, fireworks will be permitted at this time.

If you choose to discharge fireworks this weekend, ensure you adhere to the provisions of By-law 11-2023. Please remember to take all safety precautions to keep yourself and your loved ones safe. Never turn your back to fireworks, and always have a ready means of extinguishment.

We will continue to monitor the situation and plan to lift the burn ban as soon as the advisory is cancelled.

Have a safe and happy long weekend!
