***Why Investing in Our Campground Matters (bracket numbers indicate profit)***
Campground and park spaces are important community spaces that support recreation, attract visitors, and help strengthen local businesses.
Investing in these amenities is about more than maintenance; it is about building long-term value, community pride, and quality of life.
Recent improvements, including increased advertising and updated rates, have already helped reduce annual campground losses. Many ongoing costs would remain even if the campground closed, as the park space would still require upkeep. While many park spaces do not generate income, we have a beautiful campground that we are working to grow from an annual loss into a revenue-generating asset.
These spaces provide residents and visitors with a place to gather, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Campers also support our local economy by visiting the store, using the bank ATM, dining at the restaurant, purchasing fuel, and renting the hall for events such as weddings, reunions, and parties. We also rely on local businesses for repairs to the park, as well as the vehicles and equipment used to maintain these spaces. This type of amenity is essential to a strong community.
Future additions such as a splash park, showers, and additional camping stalls could make the area even more attractive, bringing more activity and creating more opportunities for community use and visitor spending. While no investment guarantees profit, these improvements could generate increased activity, greater community use, and added economic spin-off for the Village.
The Village is reviewing options carefully to ensure future decisions are practical, responsible, and beneficial to the community as a whole.
Below is a snapshot of the potential that additional powered campsites, showers, and the draw of a splash park could generate.
