We had a great time at Spruce Glen today helping the students cool off on a hot June day.

The last week of school means it's spray day season, and we'll be visiting a few schools this week before summer break officially begins.

It's one of our favourite traditions of the year. The kids always have a blast, and honestly, so do we.

Have a great summer, Spruce Glen!

We had a great morning at Pine Glen Public School!

Despite the rain, the Kindergarten students were full of energy and eager to learn. We read a story, talked about fire safety, discussed the importance of having a home escape plan, and showed them some of the gear firefighters wear. Of course, a highlight of the visit was getting a close look at the ladder truck.

Thank you to the students and staff at Pine Glen for having us. We had a great time and appreciated all the excellent questions!

We had the Town of Huntsville Corporate Services team stop by the fire hall for a team-building visit. They toured the station, checked out some of our equipment, learned a bit about what we do, and even got the chance to go up in the ladder truck. It was a great opportunity to connect with another Town department. Thanks for coming by!

A big thank you to Medallion Group Insurance and the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council for selecting Huntsville Fire Department as a recipient of a Spring into Summer Fire Prevention Kit.

These public education resources will help us continue sharing important fire safety messages throughout our community at school visits, public events, station tours, and other outreach opportunities.

Thank you to Jason Laurin from McDougall Insurance & Financial for stopping by to deliver the kit and for supporting fire prevention and public education efforts across Ontario. We appreciate the partnership and look forward to putting these materials to good use in our community.

A great afternoon at Station 5 in Port Sydney with Muskoka Christian School!

Students read a fire safety story, learned about firefighter gear, toured the trucks, and got the chance to use a fire hose. One of the highlights was putting out a "house fire" using a training prop built by our firefighters.

Thanks for spending the afternoon with us. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did!

FireSmart in Action

This recent wildland fire burned through the surrounding trees but stopped before reaching the home. FireSmart measures around the structure helped create a barrier that prevented the fire from spreading into the Immediate Zone.

After the fire, firefighters took the extra step of recreating the scene with a scale model to better understand fire behaviour, review tactics, and discuss key decision points from the incident. By studying real-world events, crews can identify lessons learned and improve future wildland fire responses.

FireSmart works, and continuous training helps ensure firefighters are ready when it matters most.

Today we had a great visit from the JK and SK students from Huntsville Public School.

The students toured the fire hall, listened to a fire safety story, checked out the firefighter gear and fire trucks, and had the chance to spray some water.

Thanks for stopping by and spending the morning with us. We always enjoy showing students around the station and talking about fire safety.
