For over 50 years the Rotary Club of Huntsville has been sending youth from our area around the world and hosting youth from around the world right here in Muskoka. This program would not be possible without the amazing host families that welcome these students into their homes and truly make them feel a part of their family and our community.
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to host an exchange student we would love to hear from you. Our students are here for 11 months and typically stay with a host family for 2-3months of that time.
Rotary Youth Exchange host families act as temporary parents, providing a safe, welcoming environment. Key responsibilities include providing room, board, and a bed; exercising general parental supervision; involving the student in daily household life; and guiding them through local cultural norms while maintaining regular contact with us. Families are supported throughout their time as hosts by our club.
Hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange student offers families an immersive, rewarding cultural experience right at home. Benefits include expanding your family's global perspective, building lifelong international friendships, and helping young people develop global leadership skills—all without having to travel.

May is Youth Services month in Rotary. The Rotary Club of Huntsville has been a part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program for over 50 years. We have had the priviledge of sending local youth all over the world and welcoming an amazing diverse group of youth to Huntsville.

Rotary youth exchange builds peace one young person at a time. Students learn a new language, discover another culture, and truly become global citizens.

Exchanges for students ages 15-19 are sponsored by Rotary clubs in more than 100 countries. Long-term exchanges last a full academic year, and students attend local schools and live with multiple host families.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our friend and fellow Rotarian, Rick Wearing, has passed away. Rick served the Rotary Club of Huntsville with dedication, integrity, and a genuine commitment to service above self. His leadership, kindness, and steady presence enriched our club and our community.
We hold his family and loved ones in our thoughts as we remember a man who gave so much of himself to others.

Len Ross Past President Rotary Club of Huntsville 2012-13, 2023-25

Len Ross, 80, died very suddenly at home in Huntsville, ON on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026.

He leaves behind his loving wife and partner of thirty-two years, Nina Semper-Ross, who he loved dearly. He was also the proud father of Geoffrey Ross and his partner Tiffany, of New York City, New York.

Len loved people , and he loved to talk! He would “work a room” and would work hard to find common ground before he left the conversation. He gave generously of his time and energy, most recently as the President of the Rotary Club of Huntsville (July 1st, 2023 to June 30, 2025); as the current President of the Trinity Non-profit Housing Corporation; he also founded and took an active role in the Men of Trinity’s Group at Trinity United Church. Len was widely known for his gift of service to others which he performed without fanfare or notoriety. Len had a fare and balanced nature and was a kind man indeed. All whose lives he touched loved him very much. This kind, generous and patient man was a blessing to all and will be sorely missed by those he left behind.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Len’s life will be held at Trinity United Church, 33 Main Street, East, Huntsville on Thursday, May 14th, 2026 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow in Trinity Hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity United Church or the Huntsville Rotary Club, would be appreciated.
