🔥 A FireSmart Reminder for Property Owners
As we head into the warmer months, now is a great time to look around your property and remove any unnecessary branches, yard waste, and other combustible materials.

Dead vegetation, fallen branches, and debris can act as fuel during a wildfire. Simple maintenance activities such as cleaning up yard waste, pruning trees, and keeping grass and vegetation well-managed can help reduce wildfire risk around your home.

FireSmart practices don't have to be complicated. Small actions can make a big difference:
âś… Remove dead branches and vegetation from your yard
âś… Keep roofs, gutters, and decks free of debris
âś… Store firewood away from structures during fire season
âś… Maintain a well-watered and tidy landscape
âś… Dispose of yard waste appropriately

The District of Hope's FireSmart program continues to work with residents to build a more wildfire-resilient community. By taking proactive steps around our homes and neighbourhoods, we can all help reduce wildfire risk.

🔥Campfires Permitted Again in the District of Hope

In coordination with the BC Wildfire Service and the Coastal Fire Centre, Category 1 campfires will be permitted again within the District of Hope.

Current and forecasted conditions have improved since the initial prohibition earlier this May. Cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and a reduced wildfire hazard across the region have allowed the Coastal Fire Centre to lift the Category 1 campfire ban effective Friday, May 15, 2026, at 12 p.m. (noon).

Even with lower fire danger, human‑caused wildfires remain possible—and entirely preventable. Please continue to use caution, follow regulations, and ensure every campfire is fully extinguished before leaving it unattended.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe.

A few photos from the Logan Lake Spring Seminar this past weekend.
Firefighter Salvador Perez de Leon attended on behalf of the Hope Fire Department, taking part in valuable hands‑on training and learning alongside firefighters from across the province.

Thank you to Logan Lake Firefighters Association and the District of Logan Lake for hosting the VFABC 2026 Spring Seminar and putting together a weekend of strong sessions, networking, and practical skill development.

Always learning, always improving. 🔥🚒

Not all wildfire property assessments are created equal.

In the District of Hope, residents have access to two nationally recognized FireSmart assessment options:

• Home Ignition Zone (HIZ) Assessment — can be completed by homeowners themselves or with support from a FireSmart professional.
• Wildfire Mitigation Program (WMP) Assessment — a more comprehensive evaluation conducted by certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialists.
Both are evidence-based, nationally validated, and available right here in our community—at no cost.

Unlike many private assessments, FireSmart assessments are not designed to sell products or services. They are designed to provide objective, science-based recommendations that help reduce wildfire risk.

Our goal isn't to sell you anything. Our goal is to help you better protect your home, property, and family from wildfire.

Book your free FireSmart assessment today and get trusted advice you can count on. 🔥🏡

Residents who complete an assessment with the FireSmart team are also eligible for a rebate of up to $500 toward mitigating their homes against wildfire damage!
