🔥 HIGH FIRE HAZARD ADVISORY 🔥

The current Fire Hazard Rating for our area is HIGH. Residents are urged to use EXTREME CAUTION during any activity on or near forested land, including ATV use, operating machinery, and outdoor burning.

❌ Permits to Burn are currently CANCELLED.

🔥 Open fires, including campfires, within 300 metres of forested land are only permitted under specific conditions and must be closely monitored at all times.

Please do your part to help prevent wildfires:
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Ensure smoking materials are fully extinguished
• Keep water and tools nearby when having a permitted fire
• Avoid activities that could create sparks in dry areas
Wildfire conditions can change quickly. Stay informed and use good judgement.

🔥 🚒 HFD Training Recap 🔥 🚒

Over the past few weeks, Holyrood Fire Department crews have been completing hands-on training focused on water supply operations, SCBA skills, and communications.

Crews completed portable and float pump operations, focusing on establishing water supply from ponds and static water sources. Training included setup, flow management, and maintaining a reliable water supply for rural fire response.

Recruits and members also completed SCBA training, covering donning and doffing procedures, cleaning, maintenance, and equipment familiarization, with some members getting their first hands-on experience.

Last night, crews were in the apparatus bay working together on communication skills, search techniques, and SCBA operations in low/no visibility conditions. Firefighters used radio communication and partner guidance to move through the space to locate tools and a simulated victim.

Great work by all members over the past few weeks!

April 12–18 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 📞

Before we get the call, they answer it.

The Holyrood Fire Department thanks the dispatchers who support our crews and our community every day.

April 12-18,2026 is National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. This week honors the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.

SJRFD would like to thank our hard working dispatchers! They are the 1st and most critical contact the public has with emergency services as 911 Call Takers. They are a key link for our firefighters as Fire Dispatchers by monitoring the radio and providing us with information to ensure their safety.
