Another message from SARM re: Strychnine:

Hello all,

Thank you for your support in administering the Strychnine Stewardship Program and for your patience as supply challenges persist. We understand the frustration with the limited supply of strychnine and the ongoing delays receiving raw ingredients from India to manufacture two per cent liquid strychnine concentrate (strychnine).

These delays have raised additional questions, which we have addressed in the updated FAQ document. Additional updates related to purchases have also been added. These updates provide guidance on the following topics:

· Product transfers: The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture is providing additional flexibility on purchasing requirements.

· Training: Changes have been made to the mandatory strychnine training program. Training completed in 2026 will be considered valid for the duration of the strychnine emergency use registration. Producers and RM administrators will no longer be required to recertify in 2027.

· Added purchase flexibility. Flexibility has been added to accommodate large farms and situations where a larger amount of strychnine is required to treat land that is heavily infested with Richardson’s ground squirrels.

More details on these, and other updates, are highlighted in the attached document. Please delete previous versions of the Strychnine FAQs document and use Version 4 (attached) moving forward.

We appreciate the feedback we have received so far and will continue to make improvements. We will update the FAQs with questions received during the most recent town hall and will share with you as soon as it is available.

Updates on strychnine supply will continue to be provided through Agromax.

A Message from AGROMAX (the Strychnine manufacturer)

Hi All,

This is another update on production and distribution of 2% Liquid Strychnine Concentrate. We are still experiencing many difficulties to get shipments of raw material out of India currently. We have been trying diligently for a number of weeks but challenges that exist in that country have made things very difficult. They are experiencing many hardships that were caused by the Middle East war. Souring energy prices have limited the number of shipments leaving their country as well as extreme weather situations. Once we have a shipment confirmed we will update everyone on the timing of the distribution to all. Due to this delay, it appears like the window for application that ends on September 1st will not be met.

Sorry for the bad news but we are doing everything we can try and get a shipment to us.

We will now try and get raw material in for later this year and be ready for shipments during the winter months for locations that have storage facilities. We will be ready for the spring season in Feb-April. This is the best we can offer at this time.

The Strychnine supplier (AgroMax) is experiencing delays in obtaining product from India. We will update producers who have completed the training when we have received a shipment. The August 1st deadline to complete the training has been extended.
