The Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve is a 100 km2 territory that protects and maintains the ecological integrity of a representative sample of the Eastern St. Lawrence Lowlands. Home to the largest concentration of monoliths in Canada, the Mingan Archipelago joined the Parks Canada network in 1984. Parks Canada is an important provider of natural and cultural tourism products of Canada with a network of 44 national parks, 167 national historic sites, and 4 national marine conservation areas.

⚠️Notice of Work⚠️

From late August through late autumn, various maintenance, resource conservation, and restoration activities will be carried out on the islands. These operations include chainsaw work🪚, controlled burns 🔥, and the seeding of shoreline areas to encourage the recovery of rare plants 🌱.

To ensure everyone's safety and maximize the success of these recovery efforts, we ask visitors to respect posted signage and avoid areas where work is underway.

Do not be surprised if you spot unusual fires along the shorelines of Fantôme, Quarry, and Grande islands, as well as Île à Bouleau du Large.

Thank you for your cooperation in protecting these fragile natural environments!

❗️Public Notice❗️

Parks Canada wishes to inform visitors to the Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve that work will be carried out on certain emergency shelters during the autumn of 2026.

Grosse Île au Marteau: The emergency shelter located in the southeastern part of the island will be relocated near its current site. This new location, which is less vulnerable to coastal erosion, will ensure the long-term viability of the new structure while maintaining a strategic and safe position.

Île à Bouleaux du Large: The emergency shelter located in the northern part of the island will be demolished due to its deteriorated condition. Plans regarding the potential construction of a new emergency shelter in the western sector are currently being considered.

Further updates will be issued in the coming months to provide information on the progress of the work and upcoming projects.
