Explore our page to engage and stay up to date on responsible animal owner tips, information about animals in our community and learn about our dedicated staff. Please call our Dispatchers at 905-574-3433 to report any animal related calls and emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Animal Licensing and Lost & Found calls are answered Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Comments will be monitored during regular business hours (Monday to Friday between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm). We ask that comments do not contain any profanity, remain positive and respectful to everyone. Disrespectful comments will be removed. Advertisements for other businesses will also be removed. Lost and Found information should not be posted on this page, please visit the shelter or visit www.hamilton.ca/foundpets to view the found animals in our shelter.

On Tuesday, August 4th, Dunk Disposal will be offering FREE curbside pickup of your donations from your home.

We’re looking for items such as:
🐶 Dog & cat food (including puppy and kitten food)
🦴 Treats & pill pockets
🧸 Toys & KONGs
🐱 Catnip & Churu
🪢 Leashes & martingale collars
🐰 Rabbit food & toys
🛏️ Small scratch posts
🔥 Heat discs/packs for kittens

Every donation helps provide care for the amins at the shelter and injured wildlife in our community.

The cats in our care at City of Hamilton Animal Services could use your help! We are currently in need of boxed clumping cat litter to help keep our feline friends comfortable while they wait for their forever homes.

Now this is a happy puppy!
At around 6 months old, Breeze is friendly, curious, and endlessly positive.

Like any puppy, he’s still learning as he goes. New sights and sounds can make him stop for a moment, but he doesn’t stay ruffled for long. With a little encouragement, he’s right back to exploring. He already knows sit, loves learning, and his clever we suspect Border Collie/Sheltie brain is ready for adventures, hikes, games, and all the fun life has to offer.

Breeze is kind, eager to please, and happiest when he’s part of the action.

Week 4: Heat safety

☀️ Ontario summers can be dangerous for pets.

In extreme heat:
• Never leave pets in parked vehicles
• Provide shade and cool water
• Walk dogs early morning or evening
• Watch for signs of heat illness

Heat emergencies affect pets faster than people.

More Happy Tails!!

Little Vera goes by Mittens these days and we're thrilled to hear she's doing great in her forever home! 💕

There's nothing better than receiving updates from adopters and learning that our former shelter kittens are thriving. Mittens has settled into family life beautifully and is enjoying all the love, comfort, and attention that comes with having a place to call home. 🏡❤️

While she'll always be Vera to us, we're so happy she's embraced her new identity as Mittens and is making wonderful memories with her family. From shelter kitten to cherished companion, her journey is exactly why we do what we do.

Thank you to her adopters for giving Mittens the happy life she deserves. We wish her many years of cuddles, playtime, and adventures ahead! 🐱✨

Happy Tails!!

We recently checked in on adopted sweet Nora, and it sounds like she's living her very best life! 💕

Her adopter shared:

"She is doing amazing. She has become the baby of the family! With three adult children, you can imagine how spoiled she is. She is happy on her back all the time to play."

We absolutely love hearing that Nora has settled in so well and is soaking up all the love and attention she deserves. 🥰 From shelter kitten to beloved family baby, this is exactly the happy ending we hope for every animal in our care.

Foster Home to Forever Home Friday!!

One of the most rewarding parts of our job is watching kittens grow from tiny foster babies into beloved family members. Today, we're sharing updates on three former foster kittens who have found their happily-ever-afters! ❤️

🐱 Cocoa
Cocoa's family tells us he is doing amazing and has completely stolen their hearts! From the very first day, he fit right in with his new family. He's playful, cuddly, full of personality, and has quickly become the kids' best friend and favorite snuggle buddy.

"Honestly, he's become a full-fledged member of the family in no time. We feel so lucky to have him!"

🐱 Evie
Sweet Evie is thriving in her new home! Her adopter shared that she's sweet, cuddly, brave, and already best friends with resident cat Daphne. They're still taking things slow with dog sibling Kaida, whose enthusiasm is a little overwhelming at times, but Evie is settling in beautifully and filling her family's home with love.

🐱 Winnie
Winnie has been doing fantastic since her adoption. Her family says she has grown so much already, and even older cat Boots has learned to love having her around. It sounds like Winnie has found the perfect place to call home!

These happy updates are a wonderful reminder of why foster homes are so important. They provide kittens with a safe place to grow, learn, and prepare for the day they meet their forever families. Seeing Cocoa, Evie, and Winnie thriving is the best reward we could ask for. 🥰

A huge thank you to their adopters for opening your hearts and homes, and to our foster families who helped these kittens get the best possible start in life.
